|On Friday, November 8, students and staff at Monroe celebrated our U.S. Veterans with an assembly. The colors were presented by Junior ROTC members from Davenport Central and West High Schools, Mr. Schneckloth spoke to the students about how our soldiers protect us from the bullies of the world, 4th Grader Sophia Brown read a Veteran’s Day poem, and|
On August 29 several Monroe students received the “Optimist Lifeskills Award” presented by the Optimist club. Students were nominated for these awards by their teachers and were recognized for demonstrating lifeskills such as leadership, responsibility, initiative, and perseverance. We have some new times this year.
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we will be dismissing students at 3:00. This is a change from last year when dismissal was at 2:30.
Wednesday dismissal will be at 2:00 beginning the 2nd Wednesday of the school year, August 21.

April is the month where we recognize the important role of libraries in our schools! This month we had author Coach Sloth speak to our students about reading and writing, we are reading many different genres (types of books) in the library, focusing mainly on poetry this month, and April 22-26 will be our Scholastic Book Fair!
