Computer Graphics prepares students for careers in graphic design and digital illustration through the use of an Adobe-certified curriculum. At the completion of the course, students have the option of registering to test for certification in Adobe Photoshop, which can help them if they opt to search for a job in graphic design or go to school for graphic design and illustration. Kate Goodenow presented to the Teen Mom Advisory class on choosing a career, what they need to do to go to college or a technical school, and financial aid options available at the various colleges and trade schools. Students were very excited to hear about the various options available to them.
Mid City Iowa Youth Congress students were invited to observe a debate on the House floor. To our surprise they were given recognition by the House and received a standing ovation by the entire House of Representatives.
Natalie Anderson was the guest presenter today in the Teen Mom Advisory. She showed the teen Mom’s how to use reflexology techniques with their babies to help with teething, upset stomach and more.
To help celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Read Across America, Mrs. Lafrenz had her Foods class make green eggs and ham. As the students ate their green eggs and ham, Mrs. Lafrenz read the Dr. Seuss book, “Green Eggs and Ham.”
Reading is the most important skill a student can have. Good literature is also key to create a love for reading and lifelong learning. Mid City High School took part in the nation-wide celebration of Dr. Seuss’s Read Across America!
iJAG students enjoyed spending the day at the Quad City Youth Conference. Students participated in various workshops, attended a community fair, and got to network with other high school students.
