    Mid City IYC students participated in Saturday’s Event

    St. Ambrose University hosted a Forum with local law makers about the school funding formula. Due to the State funding formula in Iowa, districts like Davenport Community School District receive $175.00 less per student than other districts.

    MCHS Awards Ceremony

    Mid City held their Awards Ceremony for perfect attendance, 1st Academic Honors and 2nd Academic Honors from First Semester. Teachers, students and parents attended to help our recipients celebrate this special occasion. Go Mavericks!

    Mid City Young Men’s Group

    Mid City’s Young Men’s Group met for the first time this week. Fred Parks runs the group and is looking forward to many more sessions with the two groups of fine young men who attend Mid City High School.

    Digital Innovators Class visits John Deere

    Davenport Community School District’s Digital Innovators class participated in an event at John Deere. Students did a team building activity, talked about course expectations, and each DDI team created a timeline for getting their project done on time.

    Members of the Iowa Youth Congress will be visiting all of the high schools in DCSD to present on Iowa Youth Congress and the Funding Equalization Bill that they have before the Iowa House of Representatives.


    Life-size graph activity

    Mrs. Kormann and Ms. Herington had their math students use a life-size graph to graph linear equations and will later learn systems of equations using the same life-size graph.

    Iowa Youth Congress has a Bill

    The Iowa Youth Congress is pleased to announce that they officially have a Bill! It is HF 2182.  Thirty-seven State Representatives have signed on as sponsors. While that is not a record, it is the highest number of sponsors for a bill in this session, so far. It is awaiting assignment to committee and expect it to be in committee early next week and on to floor debate shortly thereafter.


    IJAG visits Midwest Technical Institute

    Mid City IJAG students enjoyed spending the afternoon touring Midwest Technical Institute in Moline. Students got to tour the various programs and gain hands on experience of the technical programs MTI has to offer.

    Junior Rotarian meets Area Leaders

    Junior Rotarian Tyraine Bostic met the Mayors of Davenport and Cedar Rapids as well as Senator Maggie Tinsman at a recent Rotary luncheon.


    MC senior recognized at basketball game

    Mid City Senior Savanna Bragg played basketball on West High School’s JV team this year and was part of the Senior Night Recognition.  Way to go Savanna!
