Hello McKinley Families,
What a great week at McKinley! The Fine Arts Open House was a hit and we had several students and families attend. The 5th grade band, drumming ensemble and each grade level performed throughout the evening. Next week is spirit week which will conclude with PTA Fun Night on Friday. Have a great weekend!
It is spirit week next week!
Monday- Mismatch Day- Come dressed in mismatched/inside out/backwards clothes
Tuesday- Country or Rock ‘n Roll- dress like a country or rockstar!
Wednesday- Favorite Sports Team- dress up in your favorite team’s gear
Thursday- Fancy Pants- dress up and come looking a little “extra” this day!
Friday- McKinley Spirit Wear
Last year we had students bring in change/money each day to participate- nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars. We are asking participating students to bring in their change and use it in one of the jugs for our goat challenge! All of the money we raise goes right back to our students! It helps us purchase special classroom items and continue to provide access to new and exciting technology. Thank you!

Iowa State-wide Assessment of Student Progress (May 6-10)
The Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) will replace the Iowa Assessments as Iowa’s state accountability test for students in grades 3-11. Davenport Community Schools will take the assessment online starting April 29, 2019 for High School students and May 6, 2019 for Elementary and Intermediate School students.
Some of the key differences between the ISASP and the Iowa Assessments include:
- There will be a new test: Language Arts and Writing. This new test is in addition to Reading, Math and Science.
- Only grades 5, 8 and 10 will be tested in Science.
- The test will be administered online.
- The ISASP will not be a timed test.
- During this first administration, results will not be available until early fall 2019.
The grade levels, tests and estimated administration times are provided below:
|Tests||Grade Levels||Estimated Administration Time (Minutes)|
|Language Arts and Writing||3-11||120|
|Science||5, 8, 10||60|
A website is available for parents and students – Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress. This site shares information about the ISASP, including trainings and practice tests so students can become familiar with the new assessment formats.
If you have any questions about the assessment, please contact your child’s building principal or Dawn Anderson Rascher, District ISASP Program Leader, firstname.lastname@example.org or 563/336-7471.
