    Message from our Counselor

    Dear McKinley Family,

I want you to be aware of a disturbing new craze circulating on social media called the MoMo challenge. This is some sort of game/challenge that is hacking into games such as Fortnite, Minecraft, YouTube, and Peppa Pig just to name a few.  Once it hacks into a game, it can pop up when any child is playing that game and challenge kids to hurt themselves and eventually commit suicide.

I have included several links to articles talking about MoMo, giving information about the challenge and the concerns and the possibility that it may be a hoax. As with anything, we feel it is best to be educated and aware as much as possible.  We will always forward information of this kind on to parents.  Please read the articles and do some research on this.  If you hear your child(ren) talking about MoMo, please intervene!  More and more with social media, games, you name it, parental involvement is key!

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me.

    Thank you,

    Mrs. Ehrecke, School Counselor
