Fitness Center Dedication

     On December 13, 2007, Kimberly Center ’s new Fitness Center was officially dedicated with a plaque commemorating the generosity of the donors who made it possible to have the impressive facility available for students.
     On hand were Brian Burk from the Kiwanis Club along with Rex Hutchinson and Terry Hendershot from the Noon Optimist Club. Their respective organizations generously donated money for the purchase of commercial grade exercise equipment for Kimberly Center ’s Gym.
     Garry DePaepe, the owner of World Class Fitness in Davenport was in attendance as he donated many pieces of equipment that are now used by students every day.
     Terry Canright, Kimberly Center School Psychologist, spearheaded the initiative by contacting the organizations to gain their support for the new program. Mr. Canright, a long time fitness enthusiast, explains the need for a fitness center at Kimberly Center by saying, “The weightroom will provide a positive outlet for stress and will allow the students to develop lifelong healthy habits.”
     Representing Davenport Schools Administration were Dr. Leslie O’Melia, Cathy Bosco and Charlie Driscoll. Dr. O’Melia is an advocate for Kimberly Center and supports building efforts to improve resources available to students.
