Jim Wessel’s Kimberly Center Panthers defeated the Cedar Rapids Metro Ferrets in Alternative High School roundball action with a score of 45-40. Kimberly Center trailed throughout and were down by 10 points with 4 minutes left on the clock when the Panthers mounted a storied comeback led by Antonio Perkins. Perkins’ 33 points is a single game Panther record.
     Bobby Quinn and Demaine Glenn provided leadership and stability on the floor. Harold Edwards was the immovable force in the middle while DJ Lang showed promise with 4 points. Najee West displayed his trademark speed and Phillip Kirk was a powerful contributor with an impressive steal. Jermaine Carter and Mark Roberts saw playing time and demonstrated unselfish ball handling. Wessel’s long-time Assistant Steve Foster assessed the game as follows, “Metro brought their A-game and we had an uphill battle all the way. I’m proud of our team for pulling this one out.”
