Manding Jata
By Kimberly Center Website Staff Reporter Jessica Chehak
On Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Kimberly Center ’s gym was turned into a place full of flips, screams, and lots of laughter. Kimberly Center welcomed visiting artist Manding Jata starring dancers Money and Swage. Money is a dancer from Chicago . One of the cool things is that none of the dancers wore shoes. Swage is a dancer from British Columbia .
During the assembly lots of staff and students participated and even volunteered. At one point during the assembly a group of about 6 students and 4 teachers volunteered to dance. Then a group of about 9 students stood in a line while dancer Money jumped over all 9 students. All staff and students that volunteered did a great job.
Finally during the assembly students and staff got the opportunity to ask any questions. One of the questions was “Does Genocide still go on in Africa ”? In Sudan and Darfur genocide still goes on. You are also able to tell where people come from by the way that people dress. People of Africa are born right into the dancing tradition. Some African’s have been playing between 7-9 hundred years.
All in all this assembly turned out to be a great time for everyone. Swage and Money basically said that we feel like family to him.  Dance Video, Money jumping video
