Intramurals
By KC Website Staff Reporters -Kayla Ellis And Jessica Cehak
Hey Kimberly center! What is going on? People are always talking about how there is not enough things to do, but when we get something set up no one shows. Because of the fact that knows one is showing up to intramurals we may lose it. April 15 Mr.Wessel planned to have a staff vs. student’s dodge ball game. That game had to get canceled because no one would show up. It is like Wessel does all of this hard work for nothing. The bottom line is if you want to keep intramurals around we need participation!
Guy Davis!
By KC Website Staff Reporters -Kayla Ellis And Jessica Cehak
On Thursday April 10, 2008 the gym was filled with the wonderful sounds of blues music. Staff and students welcomed Guy Davis. Guy Davis told a story of a young man who wants to play the blues. Mr.Davis brought with him 2 guitars and a harmonica. The only difference between the two is that one guitar has 12 strings and the other only has 6.Guy Davis sung a total of 3 songs. The songs were Dust My Broom, The Candy Man, and Going down Slow. With the song The Candy Man the audience got involved. Guy Davis would say a part of the song and the audience repeated what he said. Close to the end of the performance staff and students got the chance to ask questions. One of the questions that was asked was did he have any musical mentors. Mr. Davis said that Louie Blouie (Howard Armstrong) was one of his mentors. After his death Mr. Davis asked his uncle if Louie Blouie could be his mentor. Guy Davis always has a flower on one of his guitars to honor Louie Blouie. All in all it turned out to be a great performance. Staff and students had a great time.
The KISS OF A LIFETIME!
By KC Website Staff Reporter - Felicia Gillespie
An extraordinary and hilarious display by the Kimberly Center Staff was performed on April 8, 2008. The opening started with a great intro by Mrs. Bosco, the school principal, explaining how the fundraiser that happened during March was a great success, and that Kimberly Center raised over the amount needed, despite the fact that most people in the school do not have a lot of money for charities, as most have troubled home lives or a family to try and provide for already!
As a reward for the school, and a deal not be broken, Mrs. Bosco had her hair died blue, in front of the entire school, and got to kiss Mrs. Gaydosh’s cute and quite mannered donkey. The donkey did not have the same problem as the pig did a couple years ago, and waited to dispose of its bodily waste until it got in the trailer, and did not dispose of it before hand. Mrs. Bosco must still sleep on the roof of the school. Arrangements are being made for that.
Many awards were given away after the exciting deal being fulfilled, all of which was for just 3rd Quarter alone. These awards consisted of the Student of the Week receivers, Perfect Attendance, Second Honors, First Honors, Academic Excellence Awards, Principals Awards, Student Council, and Ms. Neeka’s students who had passed with a “C” or better, highest GPA, and attendance requirement students all got recognized that day for their hard work and their effort toward taking the biggest advantage possible of their education.
Also the graduating seniors were noticed for working hard at their education over the 4 year course of high school. They all received school T-shirts in the school colors, with the school name and mascot on the left corner of the front of the shirt. This was the first time that the school has recognized the seniors this way.
Breaking News...No Donkeys were harmed during this event. Mrs. Gaydosh's donkey is happy but a little traumatized...
Spirit Week
By KC Website Staff Reporters -Kayla Ellis And Jessica Cehak
Hey students and staff, get ready for spirit week!!!!!!!!!!!!! Between March 17 and March 21, show your spirit for school. On Monday March 17 show your spirit for St. Patrick’s Day by wearing as much green as possible (undergarments do not count). If you tell us you are wearing a green undergarment be prepared to be pinched! Tuesday March 18 is mix  and match  day so wear colors you do not usually wear. Borrow one shoe from a friend to mix and match. Teachers, that means borrow a shoe from another teacher. Wednesday March 19 show your love for Hawaii by wearing a lei’ or by wearing grass skirts with jeans or Hawaiian shirts with your most colorful shoes. Thursday March 20 wear your clothes backwards or wear your shirts inside out. If you wear sweats, wear them inside out as well. Friday March 21, show your school spirit by wearing the school colors, blue and white . So get ready for spirit week because it is just around the corner.
David Sanchez Visits Kimberly Center
By KC Website Staff Reporter - Jessica Chehak
On March 11, 2008 Kimberly Center's gym was turned into a room full of wonderful jazz music. Kimberly Center welcomed jazz musician David Sanchez. Along with David came Henry, his drummer. Students and staff together had a wonderful time listening to David Sanchez play the Jazz saxophone. During the performance staff and students got the chance to ask any questions that they may have. Mr. Wessel the P.E. teacher asked “How much does a good saxophone cost?” David Sanchez’s response was "Between 3 and 5 thousand dollars."
During the performance we learned that Mr. Sanchez was born in Guaynabo , Puerto Rico . Sanchez began playing percussion and drums at age 8. Four years later he began playing the saxophone. David Sanchez’s most recent recording earned him his fourth Grammy. He also won a Latino Grammy after winning “Best Instrumental Album” of 2005. Staff and students who had the chance to experience this performance will remember the it for many years to come.
Staff vs. Student Volleyball
By KC Website Staff Reporter - Jessica Chehak
On March 4, 2008 at 3:15 Kimberly Center ’s gym was turned into a beach volleyball court. Staff and students came together for an afternoon of fun thanks to Mr. Wessel’s great organizational skills. Staff and students played 3 games to 15. The team that won two out of three games was called the winner of the volleyball match. The staff team consisted of Mr. Wessel, Mr. Galvin, Mrs. Flynn, Miss Jones, Mr. Fox and Mr. Matheis. The student team consisted of Jessica, Kat, John, Harold, Jacob and Phillip.
During the first round students smashed the teachers! Students were very pumped up. Second round was a very close game. The teams were going back and forth. One team would get a point then the other would. Toward the end of round two the game had to go into over time. The score for this round 18 to 16, staff won. Third round came and everyone could tell the students did not give up. In the game staff won this round and the overall game.
All in all both teams played awesome. Staff played hard and showed great sportsmanship. The students really showed a lot of teamwork. After round two, the students were starting to get tired but hey still played hard. The teamwork and sportsmanship really proved a lot about the school spirit of Kimberly Center . This game has brought staff and students closer together.
