Five volunteers from Jackson Elementary received the H.U.G. Award. H.U.G. stands for “Helping Us Grow.” Each recipient received a bouquet of flowers with a package of Hershey Hugs attached to it along with a H.U.G. Award certificate and lapel pin. The Davenport Community School Board voted on Monday night to finalize this school year’s schedule to set the last day of school for students as Friday, May 29th. Students at Jackson Elementary School, (Stepping Stones Program and 4th grade students) created a sculpture for the 3rd annual Village in Bloom Festival,, , honoring the lives of local artists John and Isabel Bloom. Many district art teachers are participating in the Quad City Orchestra fundraiser “100 Years 100 Cellos”. All 100 cellos will be on display at the Figge Art Museum May 26th- 29th. Cellos will be auctioned prior; proceeds will support music education for children in our community.
