Family Involvement

Did you know...Parent involvement in school helps children increase grades and test scores, better attendance and homework completion, as well as building self confidence and self-esteem?  Hayes Elementary has developed a Family Resource Room (17B) this year!

My name is Julie Stombaugh and I am the Family Involvement Liaison for Hayes Elementary.  I am available to you throughout the day in person, by telephone, or email.  I look forward to meeting you!  We are currently looking for families who would like to be involved in the classrooms.  Opportunities are available in all grade levels in reading, math, and much more.  We encourage you to stop by to see what we have to offer.  Be on the look out for "morning munchies" and other tasty treats in the coming months.  Please let me know what I can do to help enrich your families' experience here at Hayes.

Let's Help Save the Earth!!!

Did you know that your plastic lids from soda and water bottles are not recycled?  They are cut off the bottles and thrown into our landfills and waterways.  Worse yet, they end up in animals' bellies because they mistake the lids for food!
How can you help?  Simple.  Collect lids at home from items you already use:  pop and water bottles, shampoo, detergent, the list goes on and on.  The lids we are collecting are the hard plastic lids that twist onto containers NOT the soft snap on lids that are on butter and cottage cheese containers.
Bring your lids to school and deposit them into the bins located by the main office and gymnasium.  The lids will be sent to Aveda throughout the year where they will recycle them into new caps and containers.
