Harrison kids have done string figures
ever since Mrs. Holbrook, our librarian, arrived to share her enthusiasm and
knowledge with the students. But it seems that kids this year have been
especially excited. Instead of going outside for recess, many students have been
choosing to come to the library to practice string figures. Mrs. Holbrook has
always loved to see students teach each other figures they have learned. That is
certainly happening this year! She is just certain that kids are getting smarter
when their hands and brains are working together. She sees a lot of perseverance
as students practice and practice and then finally can remember how to do a
trick like Jacob's Ladder. Best of all, we are having fun!
