The Iowa Administrative Rules of Special Education require each school district to develop a plan for the delivery of special education services, referred to as the District Developed Service Delivery Plan (DDSDP). The DDSDP describes the following topics:
- The process used to develop the delivery system for student with IEPs.
- How special education service will be organized and provided to students with IEPs.
- How caseloads of special education will be determined and regularly monitored.
- The procedures a special education teacher can use to resolve caseload concerns.
- How the delivery system will meet the targets identified in the state’s performance plan and the LEA determination as assigned by the state.
- The process that will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the delivery system for students with IEPs.
- A list of Assurances.
The District Developed Service Delivery Plan (DDSDP) must be reviewed, revised, readopted, and recertified every five years. Districts must make the plan available for public comment, including parents of eligible individuals, parents of other students, special and general education teachers, district administrators, community members, and MBAEA staff. The 2018-19 school year is the five-year review of Davenport’s DDSDP.
In an effort to offer broad parent and teacher input, all buildings are inviting parents and teachers to attend a one-hour meeting on June 4, 2019. At this time the plan will be shared and parents will be given an opportunity to ask questions and express concerns about the plan. This meeting will be held at in the library on June 4 from 3-4 PM.
