    Tribute to Teachers

“Teachers teach because they care. Teaching young people is what they do best. It requires long hours, patience and care.”   — Horace Mann —

A Tribute to Teachers is an annual initiative of the Davenport Schools Foundation to give alumni, families and friends the opportunity to honor that special educator (past or present) of the Davenport Community Schools. A tribute can be made to honor any teacher, principal, coach – any educator who made a difference in their lives!

With this tax-deductible gift to the Davenport Schools Foundation (suggested minimum of $25 per tribute), donors will be directly helping students in the district. They will also be letting those teachers and administrators know exactly what they have meant to the donor.

For each tribute received, the Foundation will present the honoree with a special bookmark and a letter of appreciation with a copy of the note enclosed. The tributes will be distributed during Teacher Appreciation Week (held each year in May). Original notes will be compiled and kept in the Davenport School Museum for posterity.

To make a tribute, click on the Donate Now link.

Or you may download the accompanying brochure, print, complete the form and mail it to the Davenport Schools Foundation.  Tributes received by April 27, 2018 will be distributed during Teacher Appreciation Week this May.

    Birdies for Charity #969

The 2018 John Deere Classic Birdies for Charity Program is in full swing.  The Davenport Schools Foundation (Birdies 969) will be one of 500 regional charities to benefit from the program this year.  According to Kristy Ketcham Jackson, Birdies for Charity director, ongoing support from John Deere will continue to cover the administrative costs of the Birdies for Charities program allowing 100% of the money pledged plus the bonus going directly to the charity.

Once again, the John Deere Foundation will match all donations up to $325,000 made directly by individuals and businesses to the Birdies Bonus Fund.  The fund is made up of tournament profits and direct donations, and its amount determines the bonus percentage distributed proportionately to all participating charities.  In 2017, charities received a 10 percent bonus, more than the 5 percent promised.

Please consider a donation to the Davenport Schools Foundation through the Birdies for Charity program.  DSF is Birdie 969.  Birdies for Charity Pledge Form
