The Central High School Class of 1979 has done remarkable work raising funds for a new scholarship to benefit graduating CHS students. Inspired by the Classes of ’59 and ’64, the Class of ’79 kicked off a campaign at their 35th Reunion to create the new academic scholarship. To date, $13,000 of the $20,000 needed to reach the goal has been received. DSF Scholarship Chair Sherry Freese said the Foundation board has been very impressed by the new effort to produce scholarships. “As alumni get older they realize the importance of such legacy gifts. And as college becomes more expensive, the scholarships become that much more important. Bravo to the Class of 1979–and THANKS!” To contribute, make checks payable to DSF with “Class ’79 Fund” in the memo line., contact the DSF office at 1606 Brady Street, Davenport, IA 52803 or write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
