Teachers, Sign Up Now for Great Minds Projects

Great Minds program director Gene Conrad encourages all teachers to apply for mini-grants through the Great Minds program, using the forms linked below. DSF does not fully cover these learning opportunities, encouraging shared support by buildings, PTAs and other funders. We support around 60 mini-grants per year, involving thousands of students. This is part of our important mission: to provide resources to enhance the educational opportunities and experiences available to students in the Davenport Community Schools. Thanks to all our donors who made this wonderful student enrichment program possible!  To…

Employee Giving Campaign Nets Almost $10K for Great Minds

Thanks to the 400 DCSD employees who helped our students in the classroom by contributing to last winter’s employee giving campaign. You make our students the best! DSF received gifts ranging from $500 to $1. Payroll deductions (very efficient!) accounted for 80 percent of all gifts. Donors gave $9,500 to Great Minds enrichment programming and $3,500 to the Stepping Stones after-school program. Great Minds program director Gene Conrad said this will pay for a variety of guest speakers, curriculum-based field trips and materials for special classroom projects throughout the year.

New Look on DSF and DCSD Web Sites — Check ‘em out!

As you can see right here and now, the Davenport Schools Foundation has a new look on its Web site. A revamped look has put this site in sync with the updated look for Davenport Community Schools’ new Web site, as well.  The district launched the new easier-to-navigate site in late 2012. It is more community-oriented and celebrates the many accomplished students and employees throughout DCSD. The DSF Web site has updated scholarship information for parents, students, counselors and teachers as they prepare for the March and April scholarship deadlines….
