Watch D.O.G.S. in action at Fillmore!
What are Watch D.O.G.S.? Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a nationally recognized program that brings fathers or father figures into the school to be positive male role models for students.
What does a Watch DOG do? A typical day for a Watch DOG at Fillmore may include: listening to a student read, helping during gym class, being an extra set of eyes and ears at recess and lunchtime.
How can I become a Watch DOG? Davenport Community Schools requires all volunteers to complete a volunteer screening before becoming a Watch DOG. After you have been cleared to volunteer, we will contact you to see what day you would like to be a Watch DOG. This form is available at our front office, you may ask your child’s teacher, or you can print the application here and send it to school with your student.
Some comments from a few of our Fillmore Watch D.O.G.S.: “Wow! – This was great!” “I can see my presence was just as exciting for the other students as it was for my own child” “Can I sign up for another day?” (the answer is YES!)
