McKinney Vento Homeless Education Act
Davenport Community Schools follows the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act and has a designated homeless liaison for the entire district and a homeless point of contact in each school building. Homeless students must be given access to the same public education, including preschool education, provided to other children. The goal of the homeless program is to ensure every student, regardless of their living situation, is prepared to come to school every day and learn. The main focus of the McKinney Vento Act is to make sure a homeless student’s education is not interrupted due to moving, lack of transportation, or other barriers to their education. For information on services and supports for students who meet the definition of homeless, please contact Ellen Reilly at 563-336-7481.
