Kindergarten Registration

The 2017 Kindergarten Roundup event is now over, but we’d still like you to enjoy the following video as students discuss their favorite things about kindergarten, what they like about their teachers, and what they’re learning during their first year of school.

2017/18 Kindergarten Registration Opens February 21 – Kindergarten Roundup March 2

The Davenport Community Schools offers early registration for incoming Kindergartners for the 2017-18 school year starting February 21st.

These forms are just a first step in the registration process with final enrollment based on availability. Proof of address is required to consider your child for enrollment.

For new Kindergartners, parents are required to bring in their completed forms OR their online registration Summary PDF AND the following additional items:

  1. Proof of birth such as birth certificate, baptismal record, hospital certificate, visa or passport, immunization record, or adoption paperwork. Note: students must be 5 years of age by September 15th to qualify for Kindergarten.
  2. Proof of Address such as utility bill, mortgage statement, lease or rental agreement.
  3. Proof of Immunization from doctor or Iowa Exemption Certificate
  4. Confirmation of  Blood Lead Testing, Vision Screening, and Dental Screening or Exemption Form.

Other Important Information

  • School Supply Lists – School supply lists have been posted to the District website
  • School Meals: Each school offers daily meal options that meet federal nutrition standards. Families can use the My School Bucks Online Payment System for online deposits to your child’s meal account. You may also deposit money into your student’s lunch account by bringing cash or check to the food service cashier at your child’s school. Families wishing to be considered for free and reduced meals will need to complete an online or paper application prior to receiving benefits. Other Kindergarten Resources

Stepping Stones offers before and after school programs at all elementary schools in the City of Davenport. The Stepping Stones programs offer a safe, fun, caring environment with enrichment activities geared to the elementary school students’ interests and abilities. Reading, math, arts enrichment, homework help and structured play activities that align with the Davenport Community Schools curriculum are offered. The Davenport Community Schools publishes Family & Community Learning Guides packed full of information for parents of students Kindergarten through Grade 5. Each grade-level guide helps parents understand what students should know by the end of that grade level. Included are ideas for fun activities parents can do at home with their children to strengthen specific skills and information about community resources.
