Nine Eisenhower students braved the bitterly cold and snowy conditions on Sunday, December 11, to participate in the FIRST LEGO League competition at the Putnam Museum. The competition consisted of 32 teams from across Eastern Iowa. This fall, the students committed time to research a topic, work in a cooperative team, and build a robot to accomplish specific missions set forth by the judges. The students researched ways to prevent animals from colliding with motor vehicles. They presented this information to a panel of judges by creating a PowerPoint and a Reader’s Theater. The students, coached by Mr. Specht, included: Laney C., Shyam D., Liam E., Aislinn F., Emma M., Ryan Hock., Lola B., Mark P., and Anthony G. The team won the Judges Award, which embodies the spirit and uniqueness of FIRST LEGO League.
