DCSD Announces New Superintendent Dr. Robert Kobylski
Following a nationwide search and a rigorous interview process, both involving Davenport Community Schools stakeholders, the Board selected Dr. Robert Kobylski on February 13, 2019 as the new Superintendent of the Davenport Community Schools. Dr. Kobylski will begin his tenure with our district starting June 1, 2019.
Among the eight recent stakeholder sessions, each candidate met with a group of community partners from faith-based, non-profit, and family service organizations to discuss the role of collaboration, learning supports, and continuous improvement, among other topics. Dr. Kobylski’s interview is posted below:
Robert Kobylski, Ed.D., has been the superintendent of the Nicolet High School since July, 2013, and also has been serving as the superintendent of the Fox Point-Bayside School District since July, 2016. He previously served as the superintendent of the Menasha Joint School District, as well as the Kohler Public Schools. He began his career in education as a secondary social science teacher in the Chicago Public School system. He has written for and contributed to numerous professional publications and magazines, including Phi Delta Kappan, Teaching Today, and Chicago Magazine. Dr. Kobylski has been a featured presenter and has conducted many educational workshops at the local, regional and national levels.
Dr. Kobylski received his Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University Chicago. He also holds a Bacholor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Economics, from Loyola University. Prior to embarking on a career in education Dr. Kobylski was an independent commodities trader on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade and later was employed as a securities analyst and portfolio manager for a multi-national investment firm. He is married, has six children and two grandchildren.
