WHOLE LOTTA MUSIC GOIN ON AT THE DAVENPORT
SCHOOLS The Davenport Community Schools is
hosting its annual Intermediate String Festival
Saturday, Oct, 1st at Davenport West High School.
Nearly 300 sixth, seventh and eight grade string
students from Smart, Sudlow, Walcott, Williams, Wood
and Young Intermediate schools will rehearse
Saturday afternoon and present a concert at 7p.m. in
the school gym. Guest conductor is Enaldo Oliveira,
Music Director of the St. Ambrose Community Symphony
Orchestra and doctor of music arts candidate in
Orchestral Conducting at the University of Iowa.
The Davenport Schools will present the Annual Band
Spectacular at 7p.m. Tue. Oct 4, at Brady Street
Stadium. Rain date is Mon. Oct 17. More than 700
high school and intermediate school marching band
musicians, their color guards and drumlines will
perform. The musical spectacular will feature the
marching competition shows of the Central, North,
and West high school bands, the freshman bands of
West and Central, a massed band performance by the
six intermediate bands and a grand finale.
