Class of 2022: Freshman Orientation for Current 8th Graders

Current 8th grade students and parents/guardians are invited to attend the Class of 2022 Freshman Orientation at our high schools this fall. These events are open to current students at Davenport Community Schools and area 8th graders who are currently enrolled at another Iowa public school, participating in home schooling, attending a private school, or even attending an Illinois school. Information for families new to DCS* is at bottom of this page.

Event dates and times for our three traditional high schools are:

  • West High School: Wednesday November 8th, 2017, at 6:30 pm
  • Central High School: Wednesday November 15th, 2017, at 6:30 pm
  • North High School: Wednesday December 6th, 2017, at 6:30 pm

Students/families interested in Mid City High School should contact their school office at 563-336-7600.

These events are a great resource for families looking to learn more about our high schools. Student clubs and athletics teams will have information tables set up for visitors, and there will be entertainment from schools’ cheer, dance, and theater students. To learn more about Davenport’s high schools, take a few minutes watching members of the Class of 2017 reflect back on their experiences:

*Families not currently enrolled at Davenport Community Schools: If your current 8th grader is interested in taking classes at one of our public high schools, you are welcome to attend these orientation events. High school students from around the Quad Cities area choose the Davenport Community Schools for their high school years because of our extraordinary extracurricular offerings, high rigor academics and Advanced Placement course work, and a series of magnet programs that are unique in the region, such as the Creative Arts Academy of the Quad Cities, the INSPIRE Academy, and the Accelerated Associate Degree Program.

  • Iowa students currently enrolled in a non-Davenport district can apply to open enroll into our district.
  • Private school and home school families looking to access otherwise unavailable coursework can attend our district, even at a 1/4 or 1/2 enrollment. To learn more about eligibility, please contact Alison Loescher at the Achievement Service Center by calling 563-336-5084.
  • In addition, Davenport Community Schools has welcomed Illinois students through a tuition payment process.

To request an informational packet about Davenport Community Schools, visit our Welcome Center web page or call the Welcome Center at 563-336-5018.

We hope to see you at Freshman Orientation!
