Happy February to everyone. Majority of you are aware that the Iowa Legislature passed a bill last Thursday requiring all Iowa schools to offer parents the option to choose in-person learning five days per week effective February 15, 2021. If you are considering changing models please fill out the form below by Friday, February 5, 2021. Changes are again effective Monday, February 15, 2021
*Please note that students moving from 100% online to daily in-person instruction will continue with Edgenuity work while attending in person through the end of B Term.
*Students moving from Hybrid learning to 100% online will be provided instruction through the end of B Term and will begin Edgenuity courses at the start of C Term (March

Attention current 8th-11th Graders. Are you interested in the Blue Illusion Dance Team, Central’s award winning dance teams? Tryouts will take place March 27 in George Marshall Gym at Central (virtual options available). It’s almost that time of year again! You know…..Valentine’s Day! The Girls Learn International group is selling candy grams for $3 from February 4th-February 12th. All proceeds of candy grams will go to fund other community projects and organizations around Central and Davenport. Because this is a special and unique year, there is a google order form for the candy grams, in all grade level classrooms and attached below, so that we are all being safe and keeping everyone healthy while also promoting love and happiness through CANDY GRAMS! If you are interested in getting candy grams for your best friend, loved ones, favorite teacher or random person, just fill out a form for each candy gram you would like to give and bring the money to Mrs. Sodawasser in RM 629, Mrs. Trimble in RM 331 or Ms. Nelson in RM 501. When you access the form you will see that there are several candy options to make your valentine the happiest this year! Let’s help raise that Blue Devil spirit by spreading love and happiness through candy grams for Valentines this year. Candy grams will be delivered on February 15th during your 4th block class. Remember It is also acceptable to send yourself a candy gram! Love and happiness spreads from the inside out!!! Happy Valentines Day Blue Devils!

The Davenport Central Baseball Program is looking for ambitious young people who would like to serve as managers for the upcoming baseball season. The 2021 City of Davenport Youth AmeriCorps Program is now accepting applications for their 2021 Summer Program. Students who will be 17 years old by May 17, 2021 and meet application criteria are eligible to apply for this service-learning and career training program. Students selected to participate will serve a minimum of 300 hours from 06/14/21-08/23/21 for a total of 10 weeks. Successful participants will receive 2500.00 for their involvement and an educational stipend of 1311 to use toward higher education. EDUCATION AND COUNSELING GROUPS
The DCSD has partnered with Family Resources, Inc. to provide several small learning and support groups for students. Due to COVID-19, all of these groups are being held virtually at this time and occur every Wednesday. For hybrid students who are in attendance on Wednesday that want to attend a group, arrangements can be made at school for this to occur. Students should email CHS school social worker, wurdingerj@davenportschools.org who will secure a meeting space for them. All of the groups are being held via Google Meets and the Google Links for these groups are listed in each CHS Grade Level Google Classroom and can also be obtained by emailing or seeing your school counselor or school social worker, Judy Wurdinger.
Wednesdays 12:30-1:30: HS SAFE SPACE Group: This group provides a safe, supportive space for drop-in facilitated discussions that provides information and support to students. All students are welcome to join and can attend as many as they find helpful.
Wednesdays 1:30-2:30: HS Survivor Group: This group provides a safe, supportive space for any student who identifies as a survivor of any violent crime.
Wednesdays 2:30-3:30: HS Anxiety/Depression Coping Skills Group: This group provides a safe, supportive space for any student who is wanting to build their coping skills to help manage their feelings and emotions.
Wednesdays 3:30-4:30: HS Grief/Loss/Trauma Group: This group provides a safe, supportive space for any student struggling with grief, loss, and/or trauma

- Students wishing to be assigned a locker must make a request using a Google Form link that is available on the Central website. Once the request is made your locker number and combo will be emailed to you by Mrs. Hampton.
- Just a reminder that your locker can only be used before and after school—you will not be allowed to stop there during the day.
