The Spring Season Activity bus to Brady Stadium: There will be 2 buses that will start running on Monday Mar 18 for the athletes to get to practices. They will leave from the Grensing FH/Sports Lobby Entrance 10 min after the final bell rings (3:47pm). These buses are on a tight schedule and will not wait.
DC 2019-2020 Blue Illusion Dance Team Tryouts:
Blue Illusion Dance Team Tryouts are Saturday March 30 at Central High School. Doors will open at 7:30am, tryout material will be taught beginning at 8:00. Lunch will be taken at 12:00 (bring your own), and tryouts will begin no later than 1:00pm. Students are asked to stay until the end. Please fill out this Google form: https://goo.gl/forms/mHFtfCTbUxl1OsaI2 and come with the attached permission slip in order to tryout. If you cannot make March 30, please contact Coach Meredith Dennis in advance, at email@example.com to arrange an alternate tryout time. For the Gear UP Class of 2020
A special Gear Up ACT Exam is being held at Central High on the morning of Wednesday, April 24th. The test is fully paid for by Gear Up Iowa, a $17,000 investment! All Juniors have been pre-registered and will soon begin filling out non-test materials in advisories. Is your student struggling for academic help? Gear Up and Central offer after-school tutoring every Tuesday with Math and Language Arts teachers, and every Thursday with Science and Social Studies teachers. Tutoring runs from 3:45pm-4:45pm, snacks are available.
Catch-Up Academy is on Saturday, March 23rd from 8:30am – 11:30am. This is a great opportunity for your student to catch up on late work or missing exams. 10 teachers are available in Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Foreign Language and Computer Applications. A career and college fair will be held on March 31, from 12:30-3:00pm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at Hotel Kirkwood.
The registration deadline for the April 13th ACT is tonight, March 8th! Late registration will be accepted through Friday, March 25th, but you will be charged a late fee.

Mock Trial – Blue Team Qualifies For State
Good news! Central Mock Trial Blue Team qualified for State after some fierce competition at the regional competition! The team went undefeated during the competition. Both of our Central teams exemplified excellence and skill, with the Red team finishing with one win and one loss. Team Blue members are:
- Senior Captains Jess Elliott and Nina Lanciloti
- Juniors Laura Sitz, Jenny Mahl, Lucas Teasdale, Zeke Wynsma, Isabel Buchanan, Hailey Mandell, Rafe Sullivan, and Jacob Hansen.
Many of our team members also received Outstanding Witness and Attorney awards. Congratulations!
Battle of the Bridges Competition
Congratulations to seniors, Logan VanItallie, Luke Hummel, and Jeff Buck for winning the Most Innovative Design award at Battle of the Bridges event on Friday. These students competing against teams from all over the Quad Cities, these students won, what is considered First Place in engineering design challenges. Good luck at the trebuchet competition!
MAC All-Conference Boys Basketball
Congratulations to the Blue Devils basketball players recognized by the MAC as remarkable student athletes. These students were named as All-Conference MAC players:
Senior Keshawn Pegues – 1st Team
Junior Kaiden Phillips – 2nd Team
Senior Josh English and Sophomore John Miller – Honorable Mention
The team finished 3rd in conference and had an overall record of 16-7. Great job, gentlemen!
2019 Iowa ProStart Invitational
Congratulations to Davenport’s Culinary and Management teams for placing 3rd in the 2019 Iowa ProStart Invitational in Des Moines on February 26th. A special thanks to our mentor, Chef Gabe, from the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf. Students Shyesha Taylor, Rebecca Tague, Jesus Trujano Garcia, Grace Henry, Sarah Kakert, Taylor Thompson, and Serenity Jones put out the effort to gain a professional experience which was judged by Iowa’s best! Great job!
