Note From After Prom Committee:
Prom season is approaching and it is time to start rounding up committee members, volunteers and donations for this year’s After Prom event. It is vital to the success of the event that we get as many parents involved as possible. It takes nearly 100 volunteers each year to help plan, set up, run, and clean-up this event for the 650+ kids that attend. This year After Prom will run April 21st from 10pm – 2am. Volunteers are needed in shifts for registration, set up, games, food and clean-up. If you are unable to physically help at our event, we also need help fundraising and transporting games to/from the mall. Or you can help with donations like cash, gift certificates, or merchandise to help cover expenses and prizes used for the evening. Please consider helping where you can to help keep this a free, safe, and fun night for the kids.

Deere Mentor Program
Thank you to all of the volunteers from Deere who work with the mentoring program for coming in to work with Mr. Porter and the students of iJAG. The goal of the program is to have students train and then do a project where they identify an efficiency gap in their school or community and propose ideas to improve the problem.
In this particular portion of the training, students participated in the Lego & 5 Wastes program. They identified problems with an inefficient and under trained assembly line and then worked together to correct the problem. Following the activity, they split into teams to apply the learning to something “real world issues” at Central, in the community, and their jobs. In the next phase of the training, students will create a project and presentation on what the efficiency issue they selected and their proposal for eliminating or reducing the waste.
Great job to the students in Mr. Porter’s iJAG class and thanks again to the volunteers of Deere!
