Announcements for 12-10-07

Attention all baseball players:  there will be a short organizational meeting on Thursday morning at 7:15 in the gym.  All players in grades 9 thru 12 should attend to get information on winter workouts. 12-10

The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team is going to the Rock Island Varsity tournament this Saturday, December 15th.  We will meet at Rock Island High School at 8:40 a.m.  Competition begins at 9:00 a.m.  We will play four matches in the morning, and if we win our bracket, we will continue with three more rounds in the afternoon.  If there are any of you who can join us, please let me know.  I also have directions for those who are going, so come pick them up in room 501.  We will not practice before the tournament so plan to be over at Rock Island at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday.  See you there! 12-10

Reminder to the Bowling Team – Please be at Miller Time Bowl by 4:30 pm for our match against North Scott today – Full uniform is required. 12-10

Newspaper students all stories need to be in today. The lab will be open until 4. Because of bad weather and the basketball game Tuesday, the Parents of Publications meeting has been moved to 6p.m.. Questions call Ms Buttleman or Mrs. Whalen. 12-10

Have you ever yelled...? "Does anyone know how to play euchre?" Well, now you can stop asking and start coming to euchre club every Wednesday after school for one hour of playing time. "Don't know how to play?" Don't worry, come to euchre club in room 615 (Mrs. Kresse's room) and we will teach you everything you need to know. 12-10

The Bluedevil wrestlers were in action last Saturday at the Maquoketa Invitational. Champions included Max Mayfied, Cole Walton, and McKinze Jackson. Max Mayfield had two falls and a tech fall on his way to the championship. Paul Shumaker was a runner-up, Ryan Mena took third place, Sean Turcsak was fourth, and Josh Behrendt took fifth place. Great Job Bluedevils. 12-10

Congratulations to Devin Farrell for being elected as President of the 2nd Iowa Youth Congress and to Nick De La Cruz for being elected as Vice President of the 2nd Iowa Youth Congress at the General Assembly in Des Moines last Friday. Both beat out incumbents to win their elections. Also congratulations to Ebonie Butler as she came in second in the election for Secretary. 12-10

"Attention all aspiring 'players': Auditions for this spring's play, 'Hay Fever' will be held today after school in Kahler auditorium. Also, those wanting an opportunity to assistant direct this wonderful production should also attend." 12-10

Blue Crew, we will have a meeting in the IMC at 7:15 on Wednesday. See you there! 12-10

"Attention all students; there will be an early-bird driver education class taught here at Central from January 7th to February 24th. Sign up today, before it fills up! Registration forms are available in the guidance office or in Mr. Jurgena's room; #529." 12-18

Auditions for Central's Most Select Choir, the Concert Chorale, will take place from Tuesday, December 11th until Tuesday, December 18th. You must be a Junior or Senior and be enrolled for Choir during the 2nd half of the year. To find out the guidelines for the auditions, and to sign up for a time, see the list posted on Mr. Reese's door in the choir room. The ensemble will start rehearsing after the Holiday break. See Mr. Reese for further information. 12-10

The Central Book Club will be meeting on Monday, December 10th after school to discuss Girl With A Pearl Earring.  Please come to the meeting if you have read the book.  Also, if you do not plan to attend the discussion but have checked out a book, they must be returned by Monday after school. 12-10
