Announcements for 11-02-09
Students, a reminder from the Dean’s and Attendance office:
Students who arrive late will receive a 15 minute detention (first school rule, don’t be late!). Serve your detention in the Auditorium or as assigned. If you do not serve your 15 minute detention, it becomes a 1 hour detention. If you do not serve, you will be assigned Saturday School.
Furthermore, all electronic devices are to be away, and off between 7:44 and 2:35. If you do not comply, you are required to give you electronics to a staff member, and a parent must pick it up in the Dean’s office. If you choose not to give it up to a staff member that requests it, you will receive a 3 day suspension, and further consequences may apply.
Be on Time and Do the right thing!
Attention Seniors! Tim O’Neil from Herff Jones will be here will be here today. Seniors will be called down to the auditorium at approximately 10:20. Mr. O’Neil will give you information you will need to be ready for graduation in June. All Seniors should attend this meeting.
The Girls Swimmers did a great job this past Saturday at regional's in Muscatine. All the girls did an amazing job and worked together to form a very tough team. The girls placed 6th overall. Mary Betsworth broke the school record in the 100 free and the relay team of Mary Betsworth, Emma Shie, Katie Beale and Annie Delleman broke the school record in the 200 Medley Relay. Girls that qualified for state this upcoming Saturday in Marshalltown include Mary Betsworth, Katie Beale, Emma Shie, Annie Delleman, Kelsey Stanger, Rachael Herman and Ellie Wilder. Please make sure to congratulate these girls and wish them luck before Saturday.
Girls Swimmers need to turn in their gear before Thursday.
Hey Marshal Maniacs… There will be a Student Fan bus going to Clinton for the Volleyball Regional Playoff against Dubuque Hempstead on Tuesday, November 3rd. The bus will leave at 5:00 pm from the South Lot (smoke stacks). The Bus Ticket is $10.00 and can be purchased at the Activities Office today before and after school and in between classes. Tickets will be sold until 3:15 pm today.
Attention any girls interested in playing basketball. The last two open gyms are Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:15 in the new gym. Anyone planning on trying out next week must be at these open gym sessions.
There will be a Freshmen boys basketball meeting after school on Thursday at the west end of the cafe.
There will also be a soph boys basketball meeting Thursday after school at the east end of the cafe.
Wrestlers are reminded that there are morning workouts starting tomorrow at 6:45am in the new gym.

Newspaper students all stories must be in the network and hard copied to Buttleman by Friday 1 p.m. The lab will be open until 3:30 today and through the parents meeting Tuesday. Get your work in. Mandatory 14th block check in is Tuesday. J write students from A term should pick up stringbooks this week.
Publications students, remind your parents of the Parents of Publications meeting Tuesday in Kemper from 7-8. Those students competing in Washington DC are required to attend with your parents.
The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team is practicing on tomorrow November 3nd at 7:00 a.m. This practice is for juniors and seniors only. Please check your calendars for Saturday, November 21st for the Rock Island High School Tournament. See you Tuesday morning.
The Freshman/Sophomore Scholastic Bowl team is practicing on Thursday, November 5th at 7:00 a.m. This practice is only for those freshmen and sophomores going to the Moline Tournament on Saturday.
Attention all students who signed up for show choir crew: (NOT PIT, just crew)
Crew lists for Blue Vibes and Central Singers will be posted today on the choir room door, Room #259. Please stop by to see who is on crew, and if your name is on the list, you need to come to the choir room after school today for a 5-10 minute organizational meeting. This meeting will be very short, but also very important!
Attention: All students enrolled in the University of Iowa Upward Bound Program----Tuesday meetings have been changed to 3:00-5:00. They will begin promptly at 3:00. Please mark your calendars for the change in time. See you there!
Seniors—Time is ticking!!! Baby ads are due Wed., Novmber 4. That’s right—next Wednesday those sweet little pictures and loving messages are due into the yearbook staff – so be sure to remind your parents to get those ads turned in to the main office. See Mrs. Jasper or a yearbook staff member if you have questions.
