Announcements for 10-19-07

We are starting to collect cans for the 2007 Student Food Drive and would like to ask for YOUR help! We will be having two can collecting contest during 3rd block classes starting today, October 19th until October 25th & from Oct. 29th to Nov. 12th. All canned food is acceptable, as well as any non-perishable food items. Money will also be acceptable; $1 is equivalent to 3 pounds. The winner of the can collecting contest will be the class with the most pounds and will be treated to an ice cream party!!! Thanks again for all your help in order to STOP HUNGER! 10-19

Attention Students: If the booths in the cafeteria continue to be left disarray they will be closed for the next 2 weeks. 10-19

There will be no Environmental Club today. 10-19

Congratulations to the boys cross country team for their performance at the 2007 district meet. Finishing 14th was Robbie Pogue, finishing 16th was Alex Trujillo, and finishing 27th was Chris Capper. Following close behind were Jake Kersten, Sebastian Pena, Brian Higdon, and Tom Mirocha. The team place sixth overall in a field that had some of the best teams and runners in the state. Great job gentlemen. 10-19

The lady blue devils finished their season last night with a bang.

Leading the Lady D's was Becca Wilder with a 9th place overall finish earning her a spot in the STATE MEET on Saturday October 27th, 2007. Not far behind Becca on her 18th birthday placing 18th overall was Melanie Louis. Coming in next was Nicole Miller, Caitlin Mccoullgh, Shay Willliams, Chelsea Rink, and Jessica VandenBerg. Ladies Coach Peiffer will be at the stadium @ 4 all week and needs you to drop off your uniforms and warm-ups to him. Also if you ordered the blue DCXC shorts you can pay for and pick them up at the stadium. Congratulations ladies on an awesome season. 10-19

We will have representatives from University of Northern Iowa at 1:00 pm in the guidance office today. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them. This is a reminder that PSAT testing will be tomorrow, Saturday here at Central High. Please be here by 7:45 am and bring 2 pencils, a calculator and your picture ID. 10-19

The Mr. & Mrs. Blue Devil contest is coming soon. On Tuesday November 6, a “Beauty Pageant” like you have never seen before will take place at 7pm. There will be rapping, dancing and outrageous outfits. If you think you can compete, sign up outside the library to be the next Mr. & Mrs. Blue Devil. Grab your partner &start working on your skit; you can be the next Mr. or Mrs. Blue Devil. 10-19

Do you like pudding? Are you a supporter of The Student Food Drive? If so, the first ever CHS pudding eating contest is the thing for you! Get your teams of 6 together for the contest on November 6 during 4th block. It is 3 dollars a person so hurry and get your forms from the Library or outside room 333 today! All money and permission slips are due in the library by Monday November 4th. 10-19

Good luck to all the music students auditioning for all-state on Saturday! Fa la la la la, go blue! 10-19

Attention German club members: We need to meet briefly Tuesday after school in Mr. K's room to plan our Oktoberfest. See you there.10-23

Attention all Seniors involved in Girls Cross Country, Boys Cross Country, Football, Boy’s Golf and Cheerleading. Please stop in the activities office to pick up your senior spotlight form for senior night at next Fridays football game vs. West. These must be turned in no later than Wednesday October 24th! 10-23

All girls interested in being part of this year's Track & Field team should see Coach Rangel in room 318 or 314, or see Coach Trujillo in room 627. 10-22

Attention Central students and staff, do you know any God spell cast or crew members? If you would like to support them with a Break-A-Leg ad that will be seen in the program, pick up a form in the main office. The cost will be $5 per ad.
