Announcements for 10-16-09

  • Congratulations to the boys cross country team on their performances at the Conference meet last night. The varsity were led by Alex Trujillo, Jimmy Hean, Ryan Baumer, Mark Reiterm, and Adam Hamerlinck. A great big machismo break down goes out to the fresh/soph team for winning the MAC Championship. They were led to the victory by Dominick Shults who finished 2nd, Scott McKillip finishing 4th, Tim Chapman finishing 5th , Alex Pogue 7th place, Marcus Moreno 16th ,Todd Alberts and Kolonta Guyton-Cooke. Congratulations on a great season. 10/16/09

  • Ian: Hey, Petra- can I borrow 50 cents? Petra: You mean like 2 quarters? Ian: Yeah. Petra: Here, just take this dollar bill- I’m saving all my change for my 1st block class. Ian: Petra- you know you can’t bribe your teachers! Petra: I’m not bribing anyone- I’m donating my change to Tally Before You Teach. On Oct. 30, 1st block won’t start until teachers count all the change that’s been collected in their class during the month of October. Student Council is donating all the money to the Student Food Drive. Ian: Cool. Do you have change for a dollar?

  • Are you considered the Songbird of your Generation?? If you have been called this by those around you – family, friends, and peers, then it is vital for you to share your gift. Don’t hide it any longer! Audition for Central Idol on Friday. Yes, today right after school in the auditorium. Don’t let anything stop you. 10/16/09

  • So put your cans up! We’re helping them all, we know they’re gonna eat today. YAAA It’s a Food Drive in the QCA. … Those who are hungry need our help. Support the 2009 Food Drive and bring in your cans or non-perishable food items to your third block class. There is a competition for who can bring in the most! It all ends October 30th. So don’t wait – DONATE. 10/16/09

  • The next meeting for the University of Iowa Upward Bound program will be Tuesday, October 20. We will meet from 1:00 to 3:00 in the IMC. This is a change in TIME due to the schedule for finals at Central. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Hoeppner. 10/19/09

  • Newspaper students your stringbooks are due by Monday October 18. They must be updated through issue 3 with your final evaluation essay. 10/16/09

  • Publications students- get your forms and money in for state. Questions see Ms Buttleman Malcolm before the weekend. 10/16/09

  • Any senior graduating at the end of A term that would like to get your money back for your parking pass see Mrs. Hansen in the gym. 10/16/09

  • Any A term graduate can come to any cashier to request their money out of their accounts. 10/16/09

  • All PE lockers need to be cleaned out by 12:00 Tuesday Oct. 20th. Anything left in the lockers after that time will be thrown out. Any female athlete keeping their locker needs to see Mrs. Hansen in the gym. 10/15/09

  • There will be a Destination Imagination meeting today after school in room 501 so come if you are interested. 10/16/09

  • The show choirs of Davenport Central are now signing up members for PIT and CREW. To sign up for PIT, or the band that plays for our show choirs, please see Mr. Reese, and to sign up for CREW, our traveling stage hands, please see Miss Wall in Room 259. We will be signing up pit and crew members until the end of the week. 10/14/09
