  • Yesterday the freshmen volleyball team defeated Clinton 2 games to one. After losing the first game by a score of 19 to 25, Central took control in game two winning it 25 to 18. Central allowed Clinton an early lead in game three but fought back from a deficit of 13 to 6 to win the deciding game and the match 15 to 13. All players participated in the victory. Well done freshmen volleyball players. There will be no practice for the freshmen volleyball team this afternoon. Everyone needs to rest up for this Saturday’s tournament at North Scott. Once again, no practice for the freshmen volleyball team today.

  • The Girls Swimmers are your City Champs after rolling over the West Falcons. JV won 64 to 22 and Varsity 72 to 29. All the girls swam amazing races throughout the whole meet. Top relays included 200 Medley of Mary Betsworth, Emma Shie, Katie Beale and Annie Delleman; 200 Free Relay of Sarah Foster, Meghan Ryan, Petra Hahn and Katie Voigts; 400 relays of Rachael Herman, Jessica Glasgow, Kathleen Gaertnier and Ellie Wilder along with the team of Sarah Foster, Emmaline Jurgena, Yesenia Cook and Ragan Carlson. Way to go ladies!

  • Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team! Last night your Lady D's swept the River Queens! Your Girls are STILL UNDEFEATED!!! The next game is Tuesday October 20th at home verses the Wildcats. This match is Senior Night and it will also claim the MAC Conference Championship!! Come out and cheer your Lady D's!!

  • Congratulations to the following 9th Grade Vocal Music Students for being accepted into the 2009 9th Grade OPUS Honor Choir. Amara Davis, Sam Flesburg, Ian Wallace, Blake Weiman. Almost 3,200 students audition for the opportunity to be involved in the OPUS Honor Choir every year. These students will perform in a concert on the campus of Iowa State University on November 19th. Please congratulate these students on an extremely prestigious honor.

  • Final opt out forms are due today by 2:00 p.m. Again, due today by 2:00 p.m. Be sure they have all the needed information with teacher information, parent signature and your signature.

  • We will have a representative from University of Dubuque at 10:30 am in the guidance office conference room. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them.

  • All 5th Block STUCO members, there is a mandatory check-in tomorrow morning at 7:15. If you can’t make it at the 7:15 time, you MUST check in with Mrs. Trimble some time during the day.

  • Any senior graduating at the end of A term that would like to get your money back for your parking pass see Mrs. Hansen in the gym. Any A term graduate can come to any cashier to request their money out of their accounts.

  • All PE lockers need to be cleaned out by 12:00 Tuesday Oct. 20th. Anything left in the lockers after that time will be thrown out. Any female athlete keeping their locker needs to see Mrs. Hansen in the gym.

  • Attention Central Students: This is a reminder that the deadline for registering for the PSAT test is Friday, October 16th. Please stop by the guidance office and register today.

  • Do you have a creative mind? Can you create sturdy structures with limited materials? Are you humorous and able to create funny skits in small amounts of time? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Destination Imagination is for you. We will have a meeting this Friday after school in room 501 so come if you are interested.

  • The show choirs of Davenport Central are now signing up members for PIT and CREW. To sign up for PIT, or the band that plays for our show choirs, please see Mr. Reese, and to sign up for CREW, our traveling stage hands, please see Miss Wall in Room 259. We will be signing up pit and crew members until the end of the week.

  • Intramural Basketball Open Gym… mornings from 710 am to 740 am, in the New Gym, basketballs provided.

  • The Central book club will meet for the first time on Thursday, October 15th after school in room 501 to discuss the book, Deadline by Chris Crutcher. If you cannot attend the meeting and did check out a book, please be sure to return it to room 501 before Thursday.

  • The Freshman/Sophomore Scholastic Bowl team is practicing on Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m. This practice is only for those freshman and sophomores who can attend the Moline Tournament on November 7th. Let Mrs. Heninger know if you can go to the tournament but cannot make the practice.

  • This is a reminder that the deadline for registering for the PSAT test is Friday, October 16th. Please stop by the guidance office and register today.

  • Yearbook staff – just a reminder that your updated stringbooks and ad sales contact sheets are due on Wednesday Nov. 14th. They are a grade so be sure to get them in. Don’t wait until the last minute to get things printed and put together.
