Announcements for 10-12-09
The Girls Swimmers placed 6th at the 15th Annual Panther Invitational on Saturday. Tori Quist placed 10th in diving. Mary Betsworth placed 3rd in the 200 free, Emma Shie placed 4th in the 200 IM and won the 100 breast and Katie Beale placed 5th in the 100 fly and Annie Delleman got 4th in the 100 breast.
Come support the girls in their final home meet tomorrow night against the West Falcons. 10/12/09
Attention Newspaper Students and future B term newspaper students- the news lab will be open Tuesday through the Parents of Publication Students meeting. This is your chance to get caught up and coached for state and national competitions. Remind parents of the POPS meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday. It is mandatory that those going to nationals attend the meeting. Also being discussed is the upcoming Brazil trip and hosting.
All sophomores in band, choir, or orchestra who missed the fruit and nut fundraiser kick off on Tuesday due to the special testing can pick up a sales packet from their director. Likewise, any music student who is NOT currently enrolled in a music class first term but wishes to participate in the fundraiser should also stop in to get a sales packet from one of the directors.
We will have a representative from Augustana College at 11:00 am in the guidance office conference room. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them.

Attention all Army JROTC Cadets:
The first Army JROTC marksmanship class of the school year is today after school at Central in room 254. If you are planning to be on the marksmanship team, please ensure you are prompt to class. We will meet every Monday after school for the next 7 months. Thanks. Sergeant Major Matson
Attention Students: College Night is Monday, October 12, at St. Ambrose University’s Rogalski Center from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. Don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to meet with representatives from colleges, universities, and technical colleges.
The Central Scholastic Bowl teams were in action this past weekend at the Bettendorf Tournament. We had an amazing tournament! Two of our three teams took first place which has never happened in the history of Central Scholastic Bowl play. Our Varsity team went 9 and 0 and swept to the title, beating Moline and Bettendorf. Varsity Team members were: Angela Barr, Kenton Creen, Emerald Klauer, Devin Lundy, Hannah McAtee, Mike O’Hara, Jonathan O’Leary, Kelsey Roebuck, and Mary Warhank. Our freshmen and sophomores split into two teams and one of the teams took first place. Team members of the first place team were: Gordon Atkinson, Zach Behrendt, Michael Goodyear, Blaine Herington, McKinley Kuhlmann, Whitney Leming, David Mampre, and Ian Wallace. The other team which also played well but did not place consisted of Josh Byrne, Tyler Hurst, Sienna Klauer, Tyler Langtimm, Jonathan Quist, Mary Reeves, and KC Voss. Congratulations to all of these outstanding students, and an especially hearty congratulations to Michael Goodyear and Mike O’Hara who both placed in the top finishers for tossup questions answered.
Do you like to sing? Do you like to sing in front of people? Well we want you to audition for Central Idol! Central Idol auditions will be held Friday October 16th, right after school in the Auditorium.
This is a reminder that the deadline for registering for the PSAT test is Friday, October 16th. Please stop by the guidance office and register today.
Attention yearbook staff members—don’t forget about today’s meeting after school. We will meet in Jasper’s room -be prompt so we can get done quickly.
Yearbook staff – just a reminder that your updated stringbooks and ad sales contact sheets are due on Wednesday Nov. 14th. They are a grade so be sure to get them in. Don’t wait until the last minute to get things printed and put together. See Mrs. Jasper if you have questions or concerns. 10/9 &
Since the weather is getting cold outside, if any of you need a coat due to the cold weather, please stop in the nurse’s office on the 4th floor.
