Announcements for 10-08-07

For those of you who may not know, the boosters have a new website!!! www.centralboosters.com The Boosters are giving away coupons for merchandise discounts on their website, www.centralboosters.com during the next few weeks through drawings and raffles at football games. They have randomly chosen 1 name for each fall sport. 4 will be given away today and 4 next week. The winners this week are - for cheerleading, Hannah McAtee; for girls Cross Country, Allison Vandercar; for Sophomore football, Jeff Jackson; for Varsity football, Deondrae Overstreet. Please go the activities office to get your coupon and instructions. And thank you for supporting our Booster! Go Blue Devils!!  10-8 The Speech meetings will now be on Tuesdays after school. Tomorrow's meeting is the sign-up deadline for the Bettendorf tournament on October 20th. If you plan on attending that tournament, you must sign up in room 306 either today or tomorrow. 10-8

We will have representatives from Grinnell College at 10:00am and Salon Professional Academy, IA City at 1:15 pm in the guidance office today. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them. 10-8

Quad City College Program College Night 2007 is today at 5:00 – 7:00 pm at St. Ambrose University, Rogalski Center. 10-8

A sign-up meeting for the Men’s Swim team will be held Tuesday after school in the pool area. 10-8

This weekend the sophomore girl’s volleyball traveled to Muscatine for a round robin tournament. After defeating Mt. Pleasant, Iowa City West, Linn-Marr Marion, Muscatine and losing a hard fought game to Durant, the girls took first place. Congratulations girls and great job this weekend. 10-8

The Blood Drive is THIS Wednesday! Pick up your forms in the library or from a Student Council member on Monday. In order to schedule your appointment, please have your forms in by Tuesday at 3pm to the Library.

EVERYONE donating must have the Davenport Community School District permission side of the form signed by a parent or guardian. 10-8

Congratulations to the following 9th Grade Students for making the Iowa Choral Director's Associations 9th Grade OPUS Honor Choir: Olivia Chen Lexi Baltimore Kaily Eaton Brianna Morrison Jimmy Hean Jonathan O'Leary These six students will perform at the 2007 Iowa Music Educators Association Conference held Thursday, November 15th at 4:00 PM on the campus of Iowa State University. 10-8

Tonight is pack the gym night at George Marshall Gymnasium as our girls’ volleyball team takes on the Bettendorf Bulldogs. Every student that brings in two canned food items will be admitted for only $2.00. The action starts at 5:45PM. Come out and support the Blue Devil’s in this key MAC battle. 10-8

Publications Students attending Drake Regional next Monday need to see Ms Buttleman Malcolm immediately after school today. Information concerning contest, performance, and practice tutorial sessions must be picked up. 10-8

This announcement is for the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team.  We will practice on Wednesday, October 10 at 7:00 am.  Please check your calendar for November 5th, as we need you as a question reader for the 8th grade Scholastic Bowl Showdown.  See you Wednesday morning. 10-9

The Sophomore Scholastic Bowl team will be practicing tomorrow at 7:00 a.m.   Please make sure that you let Mrs. Heninger know if you cannot attend.  This is for sophomores only. 10-8

Upward Bound St. Ambrose will meet Tuesday October 9th right after school in Room 609.  Bring homework, a book to read, or something academic to entertain yourself. Our card drive is this week. Bring any unsigned cards to support our troops.  10-9

There will be a Blue Crew meeting in the IMC on Wednesday at 7:15. See you there. 10-09

There will be a short meeting in the main gym for those who plan to wrestle this year. The meeting will be Wednesday October 10th right after school. If you cannot attend, you must see Coach Ehlinger. 10-10

Current and former German students, if you are interested in spending three weeks in Kaiserslautern, Germany next year, see Mr. K. in R 335 after school and pick up an application." 10-10

The art club is going to Navy Pier, Chicago for the 14th annual S.O.F.A. show on Nov. 2. It exhibits sculpture from the world over. This is a life-changing show you won't want to miss. Tickets for bus and entrance to the show are just $32! Money must be in no later than Oct. 19th. Because it is first come, first served, the bus will fill rapidly........don't wait or you won't have a seat! Pick up a permission slip in the art room, 314 today. You do not have to be a member of Art Club to go. 10-11

Boy! We must really have some fantastic under-classmen! "Why?" you ask? Because they've scared away all the upper-classmen from Chess Club. If you want to join Chess Club, you need to come to room 509 Monday after school. It's not just for playing chess; you get to meet new friends and have the chance to travel to other schools! Seniors, do you want the under-classmen to think they can out wit you? Prove your wits and show what you know. Also, Chess Club is a great way to add to the list of activities on your transcripts! Colleges like diverse applicants. Remember room 509 holds weekly chess games every Monday. See you there! 10-11

Journalism students get your money and forms in for state and regional competitions. Practice session review time will be after school today through the 15th. Students who are part of the presentation there will be practice Tuesday. 10-9

Publications students remind your parents that there will be a Parents of Publications Meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Kemper.
