Announcements for 09-20-07Central's Freshman Football team has lost two close games in the last five days to Burlington, 26-20 and to Muscatine 37-28. Although we didn’t get a tick in the win column, our team showed a “never give up” attitude with strong performances in the second half of each game. Blake Moe was defensive player of both games leading his team in tackles. In addition, Blake got a crucial interception late in the 2nd qtr of the Muscatine game which motivated his team for the 2nd half. Austin Iossi and Aaron Shirk also had stellar defensive performances. Our next game is away against Clinton on Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Go Blue Devils!!!! 9/19 Newspaper students- the lab will be open today and Thursday until 5 p.m. Stories and photos are past due. Layout is taking place. Updated string books are due. 9/19 Publication students- get your intent in for regional and state. Also bring in your money. Questions see your advisers. 9/19 SECME Movie 101 will meet in room 425 right after school today. It’s still not too late to sign-up and make magic, happen. Be a star in your own movie! Actors, camera operators, directors and producers in the making are encouraged to attend. 9/19 Attention students: today there will be a representative from Trinity College of Nursing – Rock Island @ 10:00 a.m. in the guidance office. 9/19 Also tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 20th there will be a representative from Scott Community College @ 9:00 a.m. in the guidance office. 9/19 Attention all members of Key Club - this is a reminder that your $15 to be a member is due by this Friday to an officer or Ms. Franks in room 509. If you can, please put the money in an envelope with your name on it. If you still want to join Key Club, come to our meetings every Tuesday after school in the west end of the cafeteria and sign up! We're always taking new members. 9/20 Do you want to be the 2007 co-ed volleyball team champ? Co-ed volleyball is the thing to do. If you sign up first it won’t cost you Get your teams of 8 and step up to the plate. Sign ups outside room three three three Come sign up and be the best you can be. Forms are due in the library by Friday. Its only 3 dollars a person, what do ya say! Sign up today! 9/21 The Central Book Club is back! Our first book for the new school year is I Know What you Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan. Have you seen the movie by the same name? Essentially, the book and the movie have little in common except the title and a few names. The book itself is a character-driven teen novel that focuses on the consequences of one horrible act. Why don't you read the book to see the difference? If you are interested in reading this book, come get a copy in room 501 and begin reading. Our meeting to discuss the book will be on Monday, October 15th, so you have about a month to read the book. The book club is for everyone - students and teachers alike. Again, hurry to pick up your copy of I Know What you did Last Summer in room 501. First come, first served! Central, let's get reading!! 9/21 Sign up today for intramural 3 on 3 basketball. Games will be played next Wednesday and Friday at 7:00 in the morning. Turn your teams into Mr. Swetalla or Mrs. Hansen in the gym. Each member of the winning team gets an intramural championship t-shirt. 9/19 There is a meeting for all senior class officers today, after school, in the community room. 9/19 Attention past and future Drama Club members. Come to room 305 Thursday after school to sign up. We need to pick officers and set and agenda for the year. See you there! 9/20 Please come and cheer on the Lady Devil Swimmers as they take on the Bulldogs of Bettendorf!! The meet starts at 6:00 -- see you at the pool! 9/19 The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team will be practicing on Thursday, September 20th at 7:00 a.m. in room 501. All Varsity members should be there to discuss upcoming tournaments. New players are always welcome! 9/19 Band, choir, and orchestra students- remember to keep selling those entertainment books. 20 dollars gets you or your friends a book full of great deals in the Quad City area. If you have sales or any questions, please see your music teachers. 9/21 Any student that has not turned in a free and reduced application for this year by September 21st will automatically be changed to paid status. You can get an application from any cashier. 9/21 Are you interested in joining the YMCA, from now until September 21st you can receive the Central High School student and employee membership special? Bring your ID card in and sign up with no joiner fee and receive $25.00 in Y-Bucks to use on other classes or personal training. 9/21
