  • Attention all NEW Freshman, you are invited to attend the Freshman Dance hosted by the Blue Crew on September 11th from 7-9 pm in the CHS Cafeteria. This is a casual dance where there will be pizza, pop and music. Either $1 or 1 canned good will get you pizza, pop and into the dance. All the proceeds will go to the Student Hunger Drive. See you there!

  • "How would you like to own an iPod touch? Now's your chance. The Marching Blue Devils are raffling one off. Buy your $2 ticket at the band spirit wear table at the football game. Tickets will be sold at every home football game and the iPod will be drawn for during the 3rd quarter of the last home football game. Good luck. Hope you win."

  • Calling all athletes. Thank you for getting your grade cards turned in. Those who were not able to get grades due to absent teachers...WE NEED YOUR GRADES! No grade is the equivalent of an F. Get missing grades turned in TODAY or we’ll see you at study table tomorrow.

  • Congratulations to the freshmen volleyball team for winning the season opener with Muscatine last night. Central surprised Muscatine in the first game 25 to 7. In game two Central came from behind to win the match 25 to 23. All members of the squad contributed to the victory. Well done freshmen volleyballers.

  • Attention seniors, if you do not have an open campus permission slip on file, you are to report to commons. If you go off campus, you will be assigned to guided study.

  • We will have a representative from Upper Iowa College at 10:30 am in the guidance office conference room. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them.

  • Attention all CHS athletes: if you are not out for a fall sport and you are not currently in BFS it is time to get back in the weight room. Weight lifting will be on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Thursday’s starting at 3 PM. Weight lifting will start the Tuesday after labor day.

  • Bonjour les amis! French Club and French Conversation Groups have set their calendars ! Past, present and future French students See Mademoiselle Weir in room 339 for a quick info meeting after school on Friday at 2:40. Find out where and when our first meetings will be! A bientot!

  • Any student interested in being a member of a group that cares about people and wants to make a change, join us for our first Gay -Straight Alliance meeting of the year. The meeting will be held in Kemper Hall room 26 at 2:45 PM after school today. Any questions see Mrs. Buechel.

  • Anyone interested in joining Spanish Club should plan to attend our first meeting- Mon. Sept. 14 in Room 331 right after school. You do not need to be currently enrolled in Spanish to join. See Mrs. Trimble for more details

  • It is now the Freshmen’s turn to organize their Scholastic Bowl team! If you are a freshman who loves to watch Jeopardy and is good at Trivial Pursuit, then you should come and try out this fast paced academic game. We are having our first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 10th at 7:00 a.m. in the library. Please come and invite your friends.

  • Bricolage, the quarterly literary arts publication, is accepting contribution including art, photography, musical scores, essay, drama, fiction, and poetry. Deadline for the A quarter theme “Heritage” is September 11. B term the theme will be “Power.” Send submissions to K13 or 14. For more details see the editors: Sam Hayes, Danielle Kimler, or Sarah Landsteiner.

  • Newspaper students the lab will be open after school until 3:30 to complete pages.

  • There will be a short Quill & Scroll meeting Thursday and Constitution Day practice Friday in Kemper.

  • Coming to all Lunches Tuesday- the school will celebrate Constitution Day. Bring your pennies and learn about the constitution. It’s a Federal Mandate

  • Would the following people see Mrs. Hansen in the gym to get your parking pass. If you do not get it by Friday it will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
