Announcements for 09-04-07Hey Blue Devils don't forget donuts and bagels are now on sale in the mornings in the west side of the auditorium. 9/7 Attention all Blue Devils if you have a purple or orange parking permit you will need to trade it for a new white one. Please bring them to all lunches this week to get the new improved white parking permit. Starting next week you will need the new permit or your car will be towed. 9/4 The lady Blue Devils ran a very difficult course this weekend at Pleasant Valley and did very well. Blazing a path for the blue devils once again on Saturday was Becca Wilder followed by only 2 seconds was Melanie Louis, also posting PR’s for the course. Also posting a PR was Chelsea Rink turning in a stunning time followed closely by Jessi VandenBerg, Shay Williams and Kelsey Hoeksema. Making her Varsity debut was Rebecca Briesmoore who is continuing to drop time every week. Coming in first for the Blue Devils in the JV race was Nikki Miller and right behind her was Shaley Maher,Ann McKillip, Teresa Foster, Andrea Ryan, Kathleen Giorgio, and Megan Maller. The first Blue Devil to cross the finish line for the frosh/soph division was Maura Warner, followed by Katlyn McCoullaugh, Allison Vandecar, Katie Walton, and Mary VanCamp. Also giving great effort and being very helpful the entire day were Melissa Rink and Kelsey Tope. All of the ladies did extremely well and the results would not have been possible with out a lot of hard work everyday by these ladies. There will be an important 10 minute Quill & Scroll meeting immediately after school. Please be on time. 9/4 Reminder to 6th block newspaper students check in by 1 p.m. Wednesday with weekly forms. 9/4 Students, this is a reminder that picture retakes are this Thursday, September 6 starting at 7am in the library. Anyone who did not get their pictures at registration should get their picture on Thursday for a school ID. 9/5 For anyone interested in this year's Speech Team, there will be an organizational meeting in room 306 immediately after school today. The purpose is to discuss our first tournament which is at Iowa City West on October 6th. 9/4 Congratulations to the boys cross country team for their fine performance Saturday at the Pleasant Valley Challenge. Good luck this Thursday in Cedar Rapids. 9/4 All the members of the boys cross country team need to see Coach Tandy in room 309 some time today. 9/4 Congratulations to the entire Central freshman football team for their resounding victory over Davenport North 47-13, September 3, 2007, at Brady Street Stadium. Our rock solid defense played outstanding and was led by Blake Moe, Ben Voelliger, TJ Meyer and Logan Peterschmidt. Our offense played equally well with strong performances by quarterback Tony Bakeris and running back Demerus Gordon. Special “game ball” recognition goes out to Antwaun Woods who gave an exceptional effort on both sides of the ball. Congratulations to all!!! 9/4 Central JV Boy's Golf are 8-0 on the year defeating CLINTON and PV Friday night at Clinton. Ryan Wilson was meet medalist with a 38. 9/4 Do you love to watch Jeopardy? Are you good at Trivial Pursuit? Do you have a lot of random facts in your brain? If so, Scholastic Bowl needs you! The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team will hold their first practice on Thursday, September 6th at 7:00 a.m. in room 501. This is for juniors and seniors only. The freshman and sophomores will start their teams the following week. If you are a junior or senior interested in playing on a Scholastic Bowl team, come on Thursday to find out about the fun. See you there! 9/5 Bump, Set, Spike! It’s Co-Ed volleyball time again. Get you teams together for Sunday, Sept 23rd at 5:00 at Brady Street Stadium. It costs $3.00 per person or $24 per team. Get your permission slips and sign up in the library today! Hey Everybody! The Homecoming game is coming up on Sept 27th. We are preordering homecoming T-shirts. They will be $10. Please place your order, with money, in the library no later then Sept 5th. Stand up for what is right, even if you are standing alone." These are words to live by, but at Central High, you don't have to stand alone. Come make a stand Wednesday morning at 7:15 in room 415 with the other members of SADD. 9/4
