Announcements for 5-12-08Congratulations to the girl's golf team for their outstanding performance at the City Golf Tournament this past Friday. Leading the way for the Blue Devils with an excellent score of 79 was Megan Chitty. Followed closely by Brenna Haskins with personal best scores of 40/81. Megan Bewley carded an 83 while LIzz Rickert posted her personal bests of 44/92 to finish out our scoring. Our team score of 166 on the front nine and 18 hole score of 335 were both school records. Courtney Curtis, Megan Maller, Shaina Barnes and Emily Fritz all posted season best scores which won the JV Championship by 30 over its nearest competitor. Our season record now stands at 42 wins with only 2 losses. Go Blue!!! 5-12 Congratulations to the boys track team for a great effort at the district meet last Friday. They had personal best or season best in almost all three events. Those qualifying for state were Robbie Pogue in the 800 meter run and Jonathan Pulliam in the high jump. The coaches wish to thank all the members for a fine season. All members are reminded to turn in their clean uniforms and warm-ups to Coach Tandy ASAP. 5-12 Congratulations to the Girls Track & Field team for an outstanding meet at the District championships last Friday. The team recorded 21 season-best and 8 lifetime-best performances to earn 30 medals and finish in 5th place at the State qualifying meet. Alexis Mitchell won the long jump and 200, to become the 2nd-best jumper and 4th-best 200 sprinter in school history; Ebonie Butler was 2nd in the 100 to become the 6th-best in school history; Nikki Miller was 3rd in the 400 to become the 6th-best performer in school history. and the runner-up 800 medley relay of Butler, Tiffany Taylor, Mitchell, and Miller moved to 5th-best in school history. All of those athletes qualified for next week's State championships, along with Kelsey VandenBerg in the 400 hurdles; the 4-by-100 relay of Jayomie McGowan, Lauren Portz, Kenya Bostic, and Butler; the 4-by-400 relay of Nicole Watts, Sarah Peterson, Melanie Louis, and Miller; and the 1600 medley relay of Portz, Desiree Davis, Watts, and Louis. Other medalists for the Lady Blue Devils were VandenBerg in the 100 hurdles; the shuttle hurdle relay of Jazmine Constantino, VandenBerg, Mallory Cross, and Joei Turnmeyer; and the 4-by-800 relay of Courtney Lofgren, Chelsea Rink, Caitlin McCullough, and Jessi VandenBerg. 5-12 The Davenport Police Department and the Bettendorf Police Department are sponsoring a summer camp for students interested in a career in law enforcement from June 16-20. See your counselor for more information. 5-12 This Tuesday, May 13th in the café during all lunches, any student 17 ½ years of age or older can register to vote. 5-12 Blue Crew members, and anyone interested in being in Blue Crew, we will have a brief meeting Wednesday at 1:45 in the west end of the cafeteria. 5-14 Attention Blue Devils: Capture your memories and recognize your successes with the official Blackhawk yearbook. Order your yearbook today as the ordering deadline with Jostens is fast approaching on May 15th. Only yearbooks paid in full by the ordering deadline will be guaranteed for order—we will not order extras. Books can be purchased in room 417 for $65.00 cash or check. You may also order books at jostensyearbooks.com with a credit card. 5-15 All of those students who are interested in taking an AP online course next year need to see Mrs. Heninger today, if possible.
