Shades o f Success/Boys to Men will meet today in room 419 at 1:40pm. We have a very special guest today with lots of good news. Please be there by 1:40. 4-30

STUCO members please remember that our weekly meeting will be Thursday at 7:15 in the LMC. 4-30

The boy’s tennis team lost to Clinton last night 6-3. Winning singles matches were Mitch Beckert and Bryan Christiansen. The doubles win came from Mitch Beckert and Jonathon O'Leary. The team record is now 6-2. The Junior Varsity won 13-5. They were led by Grant Kilmer and Kaleb Stebens. 4-30

Attention softball players: Tryouts for Central's softball teams (freshmen, sophomore and varsity) will begin Monday,

May 5 at the softball field at Brady from 4:15 to 7:00. Any girl is welcome to come. You will need a physical to start practice. 5-1

Please check the window outside the main office to see if you’re going to be recognized at our freshmen/sophomore honors program on Monday, May 12th. Please check the spelling of your name and your GPA by Friday. Also if you are a junior/senior and are going to be recognized at your program on Monday, May 19th, please check the spelling of your name and GPA by Friday, May 10th as well. 5-1

Congratulations to both girls soccer teams for their decisive wins last night against Clinton. The varsity won 8--0 with three goals and an assist from Junior Christa Oldham, two goals and an assist from Senior Christa Ochs, two goals and an assist from freshman Malea Buck, a goal from Sophomore Becca Wilder, and an assist from Sophomore Jill Wulf. The defense also had a great game limiting Clinton to only two shots the whole game. The Fresh/Soph team won 6-1 lead by two goals a piece from Sophomore Dana Moe, Freshman Tiffany Taylor, and Freshman Jenna LaFrenz. Great job girls and hope everyone comes to watch the girls beat North tomorrow at 4:30p.m. at the complex. 4-30

Wow Central, you missed a great Army band concert last night in Marshall Gym. The huge crowd in attendance was on their feet. The entertainment was awesome. Four JROTC Cadets who deserve huge congratulations for helping this concert be successful are Clinton Van Damme, Dominique Stewart, Ryan Klein, and Charles Duhaime. Great Job Cadets. 4-30

To all German Club members: There is an important and brief meeting in R 335 on Tuesday, May 6 immediately after school. Pick up your invitation to the German Club party on May 17 and get a ride. Please be prompt. 5-6

Reminder to girl’s track & field team: Practice at Brady Stadium is at 2:15 today. The activities bus leaves at 1:45. These are both one hour earlier than usual. Be on time! 4-30

Publications students the Publications Banquet is May 7 from 5-8. You must be present to be inducted to Quill & Scroll or receive your cord. Seniors don't forget your displays. Inform your parents of the time and bring a dish to share. 4-30

Hey Key Club members - don't forget to come and help out at conferences tonight with babysitting and selling our delicious baked goods! Conferences last from 4 - 7 pm - we'll see you there! 4-30

Upward Bound will hold its regular meeting at North on Wednesday; however, transportation will not be available. Please arrange for your own transportation to the Upward Bound meeting at North on Wednesday. 4-30

Any Junior who would like to be a Senior Class Officer for next year see Mrs. Hansen in the gym or at all lunches this week to get an application. You can be an Officer and also be in Student Council.

Applications for parking passes for next school year are available from Mrs. Hansen in the gym or at all lunches this week. The parking passes will be given out through a lottery with seniors getting first priority. There are only 216 spots available so get your application today.

Seniors the senior class picnic is Wednesday May 14th at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds. This event is FREE. Stop by the activities office to get your ticket. All fees and fines must be paid and all detentions served or you will not be allowed to attend. If you chose not to go to the picnic you must come to school or you will be marked truant. If you need a ride to the picnic see Mrs. Hansen in the gym. You need to be at the Fairgrounds by 9:00.

Seniors going to the senior class picnic get your volleyball and softball teams turned in to Mr. Swetalla, EJ Hicks or Dallas Burke as soon as possible. All games are coed. For volleyball you must have 3 guys and 3 girls on the court at all times and for softball you must have 5 guys and 5 girls on the field at all times. So get them turned in today.

Attention all Senior Class Officers there is a mandatory meeting this Wednesday after school in the cafeteria.5-1

If you are interested in taking an AP online course next year, you need to see Mrs. Heninger in room 501 in order to get registered. If you are considering taking a one-semester course, you will have to pay a registration fee in order to register. However, the year long courses are still available at no cost. Come see Mrs. Heninger for more information. 4-30

All National History Day state qualifiers need to return their permissions slips to Mrs. Heninger. Also, you will be presenting your projects to Mr. Flaherty's second block class on Wednesday, so bring all of your costumes and materials. We will be in the auditorium for our presentation on Wednesday. 4-30

Not to worry Blue Devils The Celebration River Cruises has informed us that the flooding waters of the Mighty Mississippi will not keep us from our Prom. The boat will still sail from 7-10. And an additional announcement: Top hats, Baseball Caps and Canes will not be allowed on the boat. So please leave them in your car or they will be held at the door until the dance is over. 5-1

There will be a Drama Club meeting immediately after school on Thursday. All one-act directors must be in attendance or your one-act will not be performed as scheduled. This is also an important meeting for all cast members. 5-1

Juniors and Seniors, make plans now to attend the 2008 After Prom party at North Park Mall. Last year, more than 700 Central and North students had the time of their lives competing in games, running the obstacle course, visiting palm readers and caricature artists, and watching the embarrassing and hysterical antics of hypnotized friends. This year, After Prom will include frisbee golf and a money machine!

More than 100 prizes will be given away to lucky students. You might win cash, electronics, and a refrigerator for your college dorm, and so much more. Winning is easy.

It's all FREE and begins at 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd. You may register on the boat at Prom OR at the mall if you won't be attending the dance. Just bring your ID. Make the most of your junior and senior year by attending After Prom! 5-1

Students, who are planning on going to Mexico and Costa Rica, please make sure your registration form and deposit are turned in to Mrs. Preciado or Mrs. Trimble by Wed. April 30. You can still register in the fall, but the price will be higher. 4-30

This July, St Ambrose University is offering a 10-day Youth Leadership Program for juniors and seniors. The program focus is on media, politics and leadership and is designed to be high tech and high touch with a youthful feel. Youth leaders, as well as those from the media and politics will present and interact with students. The program offers three college credits in political science. Attention Students: Prom tickets are now on sale in the Activities office. The cost is $20.00 a ticket in advance and $22.00 at the door, the first 500 students will receive a party favor. Remember seniors all fines and fees must be paid in order to purchase you tickets.
