Announcements for 4-22-08The Central JV Girl's defeated West last night at Duck Creek. Shaina Barnes was meet medalist. Also scoring for the Blue Devils: Kayla Evanchyk, Kayla Vance and Angie Scott. 4-22 There will be a brief Student meeting on Wednesday at 7:30 in the LMC. Very Important. 4-22 Attention all involved in Operation Prom: there will be a special meeting Thursday morning at 7:15 to go over the entire program. It is important that all people involved attend including all SADD members. The meeting in be in room 415 at 7:15 Thursday morning. If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Mussmann today. 4-23 Spanish Clubbers: we will meet this Thurs. immediately after school in room 331. We need to firm up plans for a Cinco de Mayo celebration.Piņatas will be involved. 4-23 Congratulations to the Girls Track & Field team for their 4th-place finish in last night's 13-team DeWitt Invitational. The team recorded 38 season-bests and 4 career-best performances in a terrific meet! The 800-medley relay team of Ebonie Butler, Tiffany Taylor, Nicole Watts, and Nikki Miller finished first; Nicole Watts won the 400; Kelsey VandenBerg won the 400 hurdles, and was 6th in the 100 hurdles; Lauren Meanor was 3rd in the 400 hurdles; Desiree Davis was 3rd in the 100; the 4-by-200 relay team of Jayomie McGowan, Tiffany Taylor, Kenya Bostic, and Miller finished second; and the 4-by-100 relay of McGowan, Lauren Portz, Bostic, and Butler finished 2nd. The Blue Devils also placed in the 4-by-800 relay, the 1600 medley relay, the 800 meter run, the 200 meter dash, and the 4-by-400 relay. Those team members were Jazmine Constantino, Melanie Louis, Courtney Lofgren, Caitlin McCullough, and Sarah Peterson. 4-22 Hey Key Club members - don't forget to attend our brief meeting after school today in Mr. Kuttler's room by the cafeteria. Come learn about what projects we're up to, including this weekend's Habitat for Humanity house building session and our mulching "party" at Vander Veer Park tomorrow! Remember, to participate in the Habitat project, you must have a parental waiver signed by this weekend! Talk to an officer with any questions. We'll see you after school today...it will be short, we promise! 4-22 In honor of Earth Day this week, the Environmental Club is bringing you some exciting environmental announcements. Did you know that a faucet that drips once each second can waste over 8 gallons of water per day and over 3,150 gallons per year? You can help out by turning off the water while you brush your teeth. 4-25 A huge congratulation goes out to the Army JROTC Blue Devil Battalion Drill team. The Drill team took home third place in the armed regulation drill event on Saturday at the Mid West regional drill competition in Des Moines. The team members are: Ryan Wilson, Paige Gomez, Josh Conder, Nick Watson, Clint VanDamme, Ryan Mena, Dominique Stewart, Arthur Carter, Keon McVey, and Kathryn Gaskin. Twelve different teams from around the Mid West competed. Individual medalist included, Arthur Carter, Kathryn Gaskin, Paige Gomez, Ryan Wilson, and Keon McVey. Ryan Wilson was a Double Individual Medalist. A special acknowledgement goes out to Paige Gomez who took fourth place overall out of 250 other cadets in the individual unarmed competition. Way to go Cadets! 4-25 Juniors and Seniors, make plans now to attend the 2008 After Prom party at North Park Mall. Last year, more than 700 Central and North students had the time of their lives competing in games, running the obstacle course, visiting palm readers and caricature artists, and watching the embarrassing and hysterical antics of hypnotized friends. This year, After Prom will include frisbee golf and a money machine! More than 100 prizes will be given away to lucky students. You might win cash, electronics, and a refrigerator for your college dorm, and so much more. Winning is easy. It's all FREE and begins at 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd. You may register on the boat at Prom OR at the mall if you won't be attending the dance. Just bring your ID. Make the most of your junior and senior year by attending After Prom! 5-1 Hey all you Central Blue Devils- If you want to enjoy some serious competition between three of our Local High schools: Come out to Rocky High School from 8am till 3pm on Saturday and watch your Central JROTC Blue devil Battalion take on North and Rocky. Events will include: Soccer, Volleyball, Mile relay, Dodge Ball, Bear pit, Football and others. Sometimes the competition is intense. So come on out and support your school. The event is free. Go Cadets 4-25 This July, St Ambrose University is offering a 10-day Youth Leadership Program for juniors and seniors. The program focus is on media, politics and leadership and is designed to be high tech and high touch with a youthful feel. Youth leaders, as well as those from the media and politics will present and interact with students. The program offers three college credits in political science. The cost is $20.00 a ticket in advance and $22.00 at the door, the first 500 students will receive a party favor. Remember seniors all fines and fees must be paid in order to purchase you tickets. TICKETS WILL ONLY BE SOLD BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL AND DURING PASSING TIME, PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. 5-2 Attention Central High School seniors, if you have received notification of scholarships that were awarded to you please send a copy to the guidance office as soon as possible.
