Announcements for 4-14-08

Attention all CHS students: Starting this week we will be having random hallway sweeps around the hallways of Central High School after the bell rings. If you are in the hallways without a pass, after the bell rings, you will be assigned a 15 minute detention to serve after school by administration. Please make sure you are getting to your classes ON TIME! 4-18

The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team is practicing tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. See you there. 4-14

Congratulations to the Girls Track & Field team for a terrific effort Friday night at the Jesse Day Invitational. Despite cold temperatures, wind, and rain, the team recorded finished in 5th place ahead of Bettendorf, West, North Scott, Muscatine, and Clinton. Individually, Alexis Mitchell won the long jump with the 8th-best jump in the State, and finished 2nd in the 200. Other individual medalists were Melanie Louis in the 800, Nikki Miller in the 400, Ebonie Butler in the 100, Lauren Meanor and Joei Turnmeyer in the 400 hurdles, Kelsey VandenBerg in the 100 hurdles, and Caitlin McCullough in the 1500. In relays, the Blue Devils brought home medals in the 4-by-800, shuttle hurdles, 1600 medley, 4-by-200, and 800 medley relays. Members of those teams were Kenya Bostic, Mallory Cross, Jazmine Constantino, Courtney Lofgren, Jayomie McGowan, Lauren Portz, Chelsea Rink, Tiffany Taylor, Jessi VandenBerg, and Nicole Watts. Congratulations, Lady Blue Devils! 4-14

REMINDER TO ALL GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYERS: OPEN GYM IS TONIGHT FROM 5 - 7. MEET IN THE WEIGHT ROOM. 4-14

Newspaper students 5th-9th block: Today is check-in. All stories are on the board. All stories/pictures must be done and in the computer 7:15A.M. April 21. No exceptions. The lab will be open until 4p.m. today. Questions see Ms Buttleman. 4-14

Journalism students going to Anaheim - if you need help preparing for your competition, see Ms Buttleman today. 4-14

We will have representative from University of Northern Colorado at 1:00 pm in the guidance office today. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them. 4-14

Prom tickets will start on sale in the Activities Office on Monday, April 21st. Tickets are $20.00 in advanced and $22.00 at the door. You will need a current school ID to purchase tickets. If you are bringing a student from a different school you must have a permission slip filled out and turned into the Activities Office before the dance. If you need a permission slip you can pick them up in the Activities Office starting next week. “A Time to Remember” is this year’s prom theme. All students are invited to attend this dance. 4-11

This is a reminder to the boy’s soccer team that pictures are today.
