Announcements for 4-01-08Attention all students and teachers: Since schedules will change for “D” term, the privilege committee will need a couple of weeks to determine who will have privileges and what those privileges will be. Therefore, open campus and commons will not take place during the opening weeks of “D” term until notifications are made. Please listen to announcements for further details. 4-2
Attention Central High Students who signed up to take the AP Exams, you will be receiving certification of the AP exam you will be taking and it will need to be confirmed by the end of the day today, in the guidance office. 4-1 Congratulations to the Girls Track & Field teams for an outstanding meet last Friday night in Muscatine. Facing off against the defending State champions and runners-up, and against the defending MAC champions and runners-up, the Varsity team finished one-half point behind 6th place and the JV team finished in 4th! The team recorded 31 season bests and 1 lifetime best performance! Top performers for the Blue Devils were Ebonie Butler placing 2nd in the Varsity 100, Nicole Watts winning the JV 200, and Nikki Miller placing 2nd in the Varsity 400 and 3rd in the Varsity 200. Other placewinners were Lexy Baltimore, Akayla Baumann, Kenya Bostic, Kelli Collins, Jazmine Constantino, Katie Corlett, Mallory Cross, Desiree Davis, Kathleen Giorgio, Keturah Johnson, Courtney Lofgren, Melanie Louis, Caitlin McCullough, Jayomie McGowan, Sarah Peterson, Lauren Portz, Chelsea Rink, Kelsey Tope, Joei Turnmeyer, Mary Van Camp, Allison Vandecar, Jessi VandenBerg, Kelsey VandenBerg, Breanna Watts, Shaynetta Williams, and Brittney Wilmington. Come out this afternoon to Brady Stadium for the Track & Field Ladies Classic. It's Senior Night, with field events starting at 4 pm and track events at 4:30. 4-1 There will be a BRIEF Art Club meeting today after school in room 314. 4-1 Cheerleading tryouts for the 2008-2009 season are fast approaching. There is a mandatory meeting on Thursday April 3rd at 4 pm in the auditorium. Yes this is this Thursday. If you are interested you must attend this meeting. Tryouts are next week with the clinic on Tuesday and Wednesday and tryouts on Thursday. Hope to see you there. 4-3 Attention Central: Tomorrow is our second night of “Devils Dining Out” at Culver’s on 53rd St. Just visit Culver’s between 5 and 7 PM, tell them you are with Central, and a portion of your meal cost will go to support your Central Band and Orchestra Programs. 4-1 Attention All former cadets from this year and last semester- If you would like to participate in the QC Challenge between Rock Island, North and us, please see SGM Matson in room 254 as soon as possible. All cadets in first semester are welcome. Please see us now. 4-2 On 3-29-08 the boys’ soccer team defeated Linn-Mar 4-1. Scoring for Central was Sam Manning (Sebastian Pena assist); Ben Whitford (Nick Mims assist); Pena (Chris Capper assist); Capper (Whitford assist). We then Maquoketa and won 7-1. Scoring for Central was Sebastian Pena (Nick Mims assist); Mims (Pena assist); Sam Manning (Bjorn Rydder assist); Jake LaFrenz (Chris Capper assist); Blayne Lazenby (Rydder assist); Eric Howe (Pena assist); Pena (unassisted). This is a great start to the season. The sophomore team lost to Linn-Mar 2-1 and defeated Maquoketa 2-1. Please come out and support your Davenport Central Blue Devils. Next game is Wednesday April 2nd @ 4:30 at the Davenport Soccer Complex. 4-1 Hey Devils, Prom is right around the corner. This is just a reminder that all library fines must be paid and all detentions must be served or you will not be allowed into the dance or the after-prom. Would you rather spend your Saturday with your date at Prom or with Mr. Classon in Saturday school? Don’t disappoint your date; get those things taken care of now. 4-4 Attention all baseball players: preseason conditioning will start on Monday after spring break. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday there will be weight lifting right after school in the dungeon. On Tuesday's and Thursday's all pitchers and catchers should report to the stadium at 4 PM. 4-2
