Announcements for 3-17-08

There will be a Drama Club meeting in room 305 immediately after school on Thursday to discuss the one-act plays and a potential field trip. 3-20

Girls Track & Field practice will move to West HS beginning today. The activities bus will depart at 3:30 from 12th Street. See Coach Trujillo if you have any questions. 3-17

Attention all Blue Devils who are in PE right now, all PE lockers need to be cleaned out by 11:00 this Friday. Anything left in a locker after that time will be thrown out. Female athletes that have lockers, if you are keeping your locker D term you need to see Mrs. Hansen in the gym. If you do not see her your things will be thrown out on Friday. 3-21

All Blue Devils that have PE D term you will need to have your PE shirt on the first day of class. If you get free lunch your shirt is free otherwise they are $4.00. You can get your shirt in the activities office. 3-21

We will have representative from Buena Vista University at 1:30 pm in the guidance office today. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them. 3-17

Attention seniors, the deadline for the Dooley Medical Scholarship is fast approaching its April 1st. Stop by the guidance office and pick up your application. 3-17

"All girls interested in playing soccer the first practice is today at Brady stadium. Varsity practice is from 3-5p.m. and fresh/soph is from 4:30-6:30p.m. Also, there will be a parent meeting Tuesday March 18th in the cafeteria at 7p.m. If you need any more information see Coach Petersen in the gym." 3-21

D Term Schedules can be picked up tomorrow and Wednesday in the lunchroom. Please make sure if you pick your schedule up that you hold on to it over Spring Break. D Term will begin the Monday following Spring Break, March 31st. 3-21

The first amendment bus to Iowa State is filling Fast. Bring your $10 and register with Ms Buttleman Malcolm in K14. 3-21

Thursday March 20 is the last day to have Quill & Scroll cording and applications for membership in. It is also the last day for letters of intent for journalism activity. See Ms Buttleman Malcolm or Mrs. Jasper for forms and more information. 3-21

Newspaper students 5th- 9th block all stories must be in and approved by Tuesday March 18 to receive the final part of your production grade. Pages are to be completed by Friday for editors to receive a production grade. Editors expect to work Tuesday and Wednesday after school. Seniors must have goodbye columns in by Friday. All string books are due Thursday. Final paste-up is Monday March 31. 3-21

Two more of Central's Mock Trial teams competed in Burlington on Saturday. Both teams had amazing performances and surprised themselves with how prepared and professional they were. Mock Trial Team B qualified for the state Mock Trial tournament in Des Moines and they join Mock Trial Team C as state qualifiers. Team members of the qualifying team are: Kelsey Roebuck, Danielle Kimler, Chelsea Rink, Brenna Ross, Tori Quist, Rebecca Briesmoore, Austin Laugen, and Petra Hahn. Congratulations to this team for overcoming so many team obstacles and doing such a fantastic job. Mock Trial Team A is also to be commended for their wonderful performance. They ended the day with one win and one loss. Members of Team A are: Jonathon O'Leary, Neal Crooks, Courtney Brokloff, Peter Elkin, Mickey Herman, Kaylyn Maher, Kaily Eaton, and Riley Hopkins. Congratulations to all Mock Trial participants this year. We have indeed surpassed our expectations and are very proud of you. 3-17

Blue Crew, we are making our video for the incoming freshman. If you want to be a part of the video, we are having a meeting today after school in the west end of the cafeteria. 3-17

Past, present and future Spanish students interested in a trip to Mexico and Costa Rica, please attend a short informational meeting right after school on Tues., March 18 in room 331. 3-18

The Central Book Club is meeting today at 2:45p.m. in room 501. We are discussing the book "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer. If you have read the book or seen the movie, come to our discussion about this true story. See you on Monday. 3-17

It's time for the student directed One Act Plays! Any student who has been involved in drama productions should see Ms. Buening if he or she is interested in directing or co-directing one of the plays. See Ms. Buening by Wednesday 3/19 in room 305. 3-19

To all German Club members: We will have a meeting in R 335 after school on Tuesday, March 18, to discuss and plan our next two activities.
