Announcements for 3-10-08

The Visual Arts Department would like you to join us in celebrating a recent accomplishment of one of our very own Blue Devils Artists. Stephanie Tarnish was awarded the Isabelle M. Brand Scholarship, which amounts to 12,000 towards a program in the visual arts. She was selected from a field of 28 applicants from 11 schools. She will be honored at an awards presentation at the Figge Art Museum on Thursday, April 10 at 7 pm. 3-10

Attention Art Club Members: All who are helping with the Sculptural “Wizard of Oz” project at Vandaveer, please stop by for a brief but important meeting in room 314. You will need a permission slip for tomorrow evenings workshop. 3-10

Mock Trial Team C (Julia and Teresa's team) will continue practicing this week and next week on Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. at the courthouse.  The team will also hold a very brief meeting on Wednesday this week after 1:45 p.m. in room 501 to discuss the state trip to Des Moines.  See you there. 3-10

Attention Cheerleaders. Your uniforms are past due. Please turn them into Mrs. Buechel no later than Wednesday morning. 3-11

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO ALL SHOW CHOIR SINGERS, PIT, AND CREW-- YOU WILL BE EXCUSED TODAY AFTER 2ND BLOCK. PLEASE GET CHANGED AT CENTRAL AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND BE DRESSED AND READY IN THE BALCONY OF THE ADLER BY 11:30. REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR OWN GARMENT BAG AND ANY NECESSARY COSTUME PIECES WITH YOU AS THEY WILL NOT BE ON THE TRAILER! 3-10

Any students who would like to pre-order their boys’ state basketball t-shirt, today is the final day to do so. Call Deb Burke at 355.7730 today only to purchase these limited shirts. 3-10

Any student who ordered a class ring, they are in, and you can pick them up during lunch time today in the cafeteria (please read 2x). 3-10

Our "Central Singers, Inc." and "Blue Vibrations" Show Choir's will be performing their local season finale at the "Show Choir Show Off" at the Adler tonight.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors/ and children 12 and under for the 7 PM performance. If you purchase your 7 PM show tickets from a CHS student, all proceeds stay at CHS.  The noon show (all tickets $5) and tickets bought at the door for the 7 PM program will have the profits split between all three Davenport schools. 3-10

One of our Central Mock Trial teams competed on Saturday in the Davenport Regional Mock Trial competition at the Scott County Courthouse. The team placed first in the tournament to earn a trip to the state competition in Des Moines.  What an amazing day it was!  The team represented Central very well and many of them will receive outstanding attorney and witness awards.  Team members are:  Zack Bergman, Teresa Foster, Kyle Holgorson, Julia Kiley, Kelly McDonald, Abby Mark, Mike O'Hara, Allie Waterlander, and Ryan Wilson.  Congratulations to yet another of Central's state qualifying teams!  3-10

Open Campus Seniors, when returning from lunch, please return to the Main Street door and wait in the lobby until it is time to pass. Please do not wait in the cafeteria area or the gym areas. 3-12

Boys' soccer practice begins today at 3:30 at Brady Street Stadium.  All boys interested in playing soccer are welcome even if you missed the sign up meeting. Practice will end around 5:30. 3-10

Attention lady golfers and anyone interested in joining the girl’s team this season…We will be meeting in the small gym at 3:00 today to start our season…See you there. 3-10

Don't forget to come support the show choirs of CHS at their final home performance of the year- Monday, March 10, the show choirs of North, Central, and West will be featured in the annual Show Choir "Show Off" at the Adler Theater. Tickets can be purchased at the door for the 7:00 performance.
