Announcements for 3-01-10

  • Congratulations to Centrals show choirs on completing their competitive season at Cedar Rapids Kennedy. Blue Vibrations and Central Singers both placed third runner-up in their division, and Central Singers placed third runner-up in the evening finals. CSI finished their incredible season with this finish, three first runners-up and a grand championship. They also won awards this year for Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Band, Best Crew, Best Male Soloist, Best Female Soloist, and the Facebook song won for Most Creative Song. The show choirs will wrap up this year by performing for the annual show off concert on Monday, March 15th at the Adler Theatre. Show times are noon and 7 PM. Tickets go on sale today. Great year show choirs!

  • Congratulations to the Destination Imagination team this past Saturday for qualifying for the State Tournament in April in Ames. The team did a fablous job for their first year in the competition. There will be a short meeting after school on Tuesday to discuss our next plans. Team members are: Jonathan Quist, Alex Pogue, Whitney Leming, Mary Reeves, and Tyler Hurst. Congratulations to all of you - we are very proud of you!

  • Congratulations to the Women's Bowling Team who finished fourth overall at the State Finals this past weekend and crushed the old school record by 198 pins. They shot 2958 averaging 197 per person. Erin Abbas shot 203 and 202, Theresa Diggs shot 204 and 190, Paige Gomez shot 187 and 205, Amber Froehlich shot 194 and 168, Lisa Freeman shot 192 and 167, and Meghan Essary had a 130 and 188. Their Baker score was 1046. The atmosphere was electric and they only missed second place by 62 pins. Way to go Lady Blue Devils - outstanding job! A special thank you to all our supporters who made the trip to DesMoines.

  • Attention all boys interested in playing soccer. There will be a meeting tomorrow at 2:45pm in the cafeteria to sign up and discuss scheduling for the upcoming season. If you cannot attend make sure you see Coach Petersen in the gym.

  • Attention Seniors: Friday March 5th from 11-1 Herff Jones will be in the lunch room to hand out Senior Products and your official class announcements. If you have not already placed your senior order, additional order forms and announcements will be available. If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown, now is the time! Friday, March 5th from 11-1

  • At all lunches on today, we will be raising money for Dollars for Diabetes, Dentral's type 1 Diabetes fundraising team. Please stop by their table and donate. Thanks for your help.

  • IJAG is having a Bake Sale and are selling other miscellaneous items to raise money to make Health Kits to send to Haiti! We will be selling baked goods on the 5th floor before school and on the 4th floor after school all this week. March 1st-March 5th. We also would be delighted if you would like to donate any of the following items: Bring to room 640
    • Hand towels (face not kitchen)
    • Washcloths
    • Combs (large, sturdy)
    • Nail files or clippers
    • Bath size bars of soap
    • Band-Aids


  • Today is the last day to submit a letter of application for the World Food Prize Youth Institute Adjudication. Get it to Ms. Buttleman before school is out.

  • Quill & Scroll members today is the last day to submit letter of intent to run for Quill & Scroll Office. Get it to Ms Buttleman before school is out.

  • Newspaper students today is the last day to submit 2010-2011 editor applications. Get them to Buttleman before school is out.

  • Newspaper 14th block students, Tuesday is mandatory check in. Don’t lose your 100 points. If you are behind in points come today after school for proofing.

  • Attention all Football players. New weight room calendars are available in Room 519. And a reminder that this week we are lifting Monday, Wednesday , Friday. Thanks, Coach Roering
