Announcements for 1-19-10Congratulations to the BlueDevil wrestlers who earned all-conference honors at the MAC varsity wrestling tournament on Saturday. Earning honorable mention all-conference were Miles Bostic at 103lbs with a 6th place finish, Ryan Baumer at 112lbs with a 5th place finish, Ryan Mena at 125 lbs with a 6th place finish, and Payton Shumaker at 145lbs with a 5th place finish. Wrestlers earning second team all-conference honors were Paul Shumaker at 135lbs with a 3rd place finish and TJ Meyer with a 4th place finish at 189 lbs. Josh Behrendt earned 1st team all-conference honors with a second place finish at 215lbs. Congratulations BlueDevils. 1/19/10 The Davenport Central Scholastic Bowl team placed second in the Mediacom First Annual Thinkers Throwdown which was recorded last November at Augustana College! Perhaps some of you have seen some of the tournament matches broadcast on the Mediacom channel. Members of our team were: Kenton Creen, Mike O'Hara, McKinley Kuhlmann, Jonathan O'Leary, and Emerald Klauer. We had a great deal of fun, and all of our team members won scholarships at Augustana College for taking second place! Congratulations! Congratulations to the men’s swim team on their victory against North Thursday and another victory Saturday against West. Swimmers Alex Dvorak, Cody Curtis, had 4 first places against North and Mickey Herman, Byron Tiemeier had 3 1st and Shane Banks and Alex Johnstone had 2 1st against North. Also the swim meet against United Township is a 5pm meet and the Bus will leave at 3:20. All girls interested in throwing the shot put or discus on this year's track & field team, please see Coach Rangel today after school in the gym. 1/19/10 This is a reminder to all of the National History Day students who are going to Iowa City on Thursday: 1. Bring your pen drive with you. 2. Bring money for lunch. 3. Come prepared with a notebook and pen. See you at 7:30 a.m. in the north parking lot. If the weather is bad, still plan to be there at 7:30 a.m. and we will then make the decision as to whether to go or not. If you have questions, see Mrs. Heninger. Hey all Blue Devils. Spree is right around the corner. Tickets will go on sale starting today before and after school and during passing time. Tickets are $10.00 a piece and must have a student ID to purchase tickets NO EXCEPTIONS. Also permission slip to bring a student from another school will be available today before and after school and during passing time only. Once again tickets will be sold starting today, before and after school and during passing time ONLY! Teachers: Just a friendly reminder. When students are leaving your class room during class time, please make sure you provide them with a written pass. Also, before sending students please verify that they are wearing their student ID appropriately, on lanyards, around their necks. Thank you. Would you like to ski with the Brazilians? The publications students will take the Brazilian students skiing Wednesday January 27 from 4th block to close of the Snow Star facility. Anyone at school who would like to participate in skiing that day can if you find your own transportation, get a permission slip signed and bring in money between now and Friday January 22. We have a discount group rate for the day. Cost: Skiing - If you have skis $14 - Ski rental lift $26 - SkiRental, lift and Lesson $31 - Board Rental lift lesson $36 - Pass will be good until 9. If you stay all day you will have to pay your own food expenses. Money & permission slips must be turned into Ms Buttleman in K14. If you have Questions see Ms Buttleman, A.J. The Lady Blue Devil's Bowling Team try to knock off the top team in the state and we need your support - please come to Bowlmor at 5:00 pm. Hey all of you Central students. This message is from Mrs. Hosmer in the library. All music files will be deleted if you have more than 5 music files in your elocker, either video or music. The files will be deleted at 9:30 this morning. The elockers are provided for your school work only, not for recreational purposes. Also, if you have completed your art classes and have a large numbers of files in your elocker, please find and remove them from your elocker. The elocker drive is almost full. Thank you for you help. "Attention all thespians and vampire buffs: Auditions for this spring's play 'Dracula' will be held in the Auditorium right after school today. There are plenty parts available in this mysterious thriller, so take a bite of this delicious opportunity!" Newspaper students all stories are due today. Today is mandatory check in and will be considered a work day if your assignment is not complete. This is also mandatory check in day for 14th block. Plan to stay to complete work. Questions see Buttleman. All National Honor Society members will have their yearbook picture taken on Wednesday, January 20th right after school in the auditorium. If you want your picture in the yearbook, please come on Wednesday after school. This should not take very long. Could Melissa Rink stop by and see Mrs. Heninger sometime today?
