Announcements for 1-09-08

Congratulations to the Men's Junior Varsity Bowling Team who defeated North with the highest JV score ever shot by Central.  Outstanding performances by Aaron Gruver, Peter Miller and Philip Weiss sealed the victory. 1-9-08

 

In an incredible match the Men's Varsity lost by just 4 pins, 3040 to 3036 to North.  Outstanding performances were put in by Austin Porter shooting 237 and 216, and John Diggs, Jr. with a 225 and 201.  Both the Women's JV and Varsity Bowling teams put up great numbers, bowling over average, but fell short of winning.  Next up is a meet against Pleasant Valley. 1-9-08

Attention all Senior Class Officers there is a mandatory meeting after school today in the cafeteria. This should only take about 10 minutes.BE THERE! 1-9-08

Shades of Success and Boys to Men will meet today in room 425 at 1:40pm. New students are welcome to attend all meetings. 1-9-08

Our next book club book is Habibi by Naomi Shihab Nye. 

Habibi is the story of Liyani, a 14-year-old Arab-American who moves from St. Louis to Palestine with her family in the 1970s. Liyani is reluctant to go. But in giving up America, Liyani discovers Palestine/Israel in the kind of detail noticed by a young girl who keeps notebooks full of the first lines of stories and poems.

If you would like a copy of the book, come by room 501.  Our discussion will be held on Monday, February 11th after school so you have about a month to read the book.  Central, let's get reading! 1-9-08

Attention all baseball players: winter workouts start this Sunday at Sudlow Intermediate School. Workouts will be from 6-8 PM. If you have any questions pick up a handout in the activities office. 1-11-08

Mock Trial Team A - (this is Jonathan O'Leary and Mickey Herman's team) - is meeting today at 4:30 p.m. at Lane and Waterman law office.  It is very important that you attend.  If you cannot come, you must email your attorney coaches to let them know. 1-9-08

Have you ever yelled...? "Does anyone know how to play euchre?" Well, now you can stop asking and start coming to euchre club TODAY after school for one hour of playing time. "Don't know how to play?" Don't worry, come to euchre club in room 615 (Mrs. Kresse's room) and we will teach you everything you need to know.1-9-08

Come one, come all, and audition for Central's annual Variety Show! This is open to ALL CHS STUDENTS of ALL TALENTS AND PERSUASIONS!! This year's theme will be "As Seen on TV." Auditions will be held in Kahler Auditorium THIS THURSDAY, January 10, starting at 2:45. All are welcome! We are looking for a huge VARIETY of talent, so come strut your stuff Central students! 1-10-08

Attention all Central people- It is finally here- Free throws for JROTC. The JROTC Cadets are sponsoring a free throw contest on SAT to earn money for their program. Any one wishing to participate and sponsor a cadet please let LTC Moralez or SGM Matson know. Otherwise- get a hold of a cadet and ask them. Thank you for your support. 1-9-08

If you would like to judge a Davenport Elementary Schools Invent Iowa contest, please see Mrs. Heninger in Room 501. The date for the Invention Convention is Thursday, January 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. If you can spare a few hours that evening, please consider being a judge of some interesting projects created by talented 4th and 5th graders. Come see Mrs. Heninger if you are interested. 1-9-08

Please return your library books to the library today. There are many library books that are overdue. The fine will be cut in half this week if you return your books and pay your fines.
