Announcements for 1-08-10

  • National History Day participants will meet on Monday, January 11th right after school in room 501. The yearbook will be taking our picture, and we will have a brief meeting to get a status update and finalize our plans to travel to the University of Iowa library on January 21st.. If you cannot make the meeting, see Mr. Flaherty, Ms. Norris, or Ms. Heninger.


  • ATTENTION BV SHOW CHOIR MEMBERS: We will rehearse tonight from 3:00-9:00 in the CHS Choir Room with dinner provided at 6:00 pm. Crew members should report at 3pm and plan to be there until at least 5:00.


  • REMINDER TO THE SHOW CHOIR PIT: BV Pit will rehearse at Central from 3:00-5:00 today. CSI Pit will rehearse from 6:45-9:15 at West High School. Please be on time, with music and instruments, READY TO PLAY!


  • All Read’n Rap participants need to return their books to room 501 and pick up the next reading selection. Be sure that you are commenting on the blog weekly. Any questions, see Anna Kaufmann or Mrs. Heninger.


  • “Have you looked in your locker lately and noticed that there are some textbooks that you don’t need anymore since you are not in that class this term? Please take them back to your teacher you had that used that textbook. Then you won’t have to track it down or pay a lost book fee at the end of your stay with us here at Central. Darn, those books were expensive… some of them are over $100!”


  • If you are interested in touring Wartburg College on February 5th, stop by and see Mrs. Heninger in room 501 for more information. If you received a permission slip for the trip, the slip needs to be signed and returned as soon as possible. The trip will be on a first come-first served basis so hurry and get your permissions slips back to room 501.


  • Attention all baseball players: winter workouts start this Sunday, January 10, at Sudlow Intermediate School. Workouts will go from 6-8 PM. All freshman and sophomore players should report at 6 PM. Varsity pitchers will workout at 6, varsity position players will workout at 7 PM. All players should bring their glove, a bat, and wear workout clothes. If you have any questions contact Coach Ryan at Sudlow.


  • The Optimist Youth On Parade …… sponsored by the Quad Cities Morning Optimists Club, will present a variety show consisting of Quad City Youth this upcoming weekend. It will feature the Metro Youth Drill Team, the Pleasant Valley Sparkles Cheering Team, Morrow’s Academy of Martial Arts, and many more acts to include dancers and musicians. Student admission is free and a donation is asked of adults. Bring your little brothers and sisters! >>>>>>>>> When: January 9th (this Saturday) at 2:30 at the Pepsico Center, Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

Our next meeting is Thursday, Jan 14 after school in the library. All are welcome to attend! Bring your photo release forms then, and be sure to check the newspaper in the next couple of days. See you after school on Thursday.


  • There will be a drama club meeting next Tuesday the 12th right after to school to all members of the club. We will be handing out the t-shirts and discussing our next project. Attendance is very important. If you are in the club, you must attend this meeting!


  • Destination Imagination will be meeting tonight after school in the usual spot. See you there.


  • Intramural basketball open gym, mornings before school, 710 - 740 am. In the New Gym, basketballs are available.


  • The Staff of Indigo Ink would like to thank the following people for their excellent cover art submissions for this year’s magazine; Ellie Wilder, Ben Schwind, Cody Hawley, Andrew Heuer, and Tim Heber. We would like to personally thank you and reward your effort this Monday, January 11th in room 501 right after school. It was a pleasure to choose between so many fantastic displays of artistic skill! Please come to this meeting on Monday to find out whose artwork will be on the cover of this year’s magazine.


  • Publications students: Brazilians arrive Saturday. There are several activities planned for the weekend including the Harlem Globetrotters. If you want to attend see Ms Buttleman Malcolm before the day is out. Other sign-up sheets are posted. Questions see Sebastian Pena immediately after announcements in K 14.


  • Hello Key Clubers! We are still holding our regular Tuesday meetings after school in the west end of the cafeteria. See you at 2:40 after school for the weekly Tuesday Key Club meeting. Those in attendance may have thankful tummies afterwards.


  • Anyone interested in joining the Red Cross Club? We are meeting next Tuesday Jan. 12th after school in Room 631. See you there
