Habibi is the story of Liyani, a 14-year-old Arab-American who moves from St. Louis to Palestine with her family in the 1970s. Liyani is reluctant to go. But in giving up America, Liyani discovers Palestine/Israel in the kind of detail noticed by a young girl who keeps notebooks full of the first lines of stories and poems. 1-7-08 Mock Trial Team A - (this is Jonathan O'Leary and Mickey Herman's team) - is meeting on Wednesday, January 9th at 4:30 p.m. at Lane and Waterman law office. At the varsity level, Ryan Mena was 3-1 with two falls, Paul Shumaker was 2-2, Max Mayfield was 3-0 with three falls, Mckinze Jackson was 3-1 with two falls, and Tommy Mirocha was 4-0 with a fall. Max Mayfield also won the Outstanding Wrestler Award. 1-7-08 This past Saturday in Fairfield, IA, auditions were held for the South Eastern Iowa Honor Bands. Congratulations to Freshmen Helene Karp, horn, and Randall Jenkins, trumpet, on being selected to the Honor Concert Band, and Congratulation to Freshman Scott Hansmeier, bari sax, on being selected to the Jazz Honor Band. 1-7-08 Attention juniors: You can qualify for 30 minutes of relaxation time in the commons area on Wednesdays during third block of next term by passing all of your second term classes, reaching a 2.0 grade point for the term, and maintaining acceptable discipline standards. Attention seniors: You can qualify for an hour of open campus on Wednesdays during third block of next term by passing all of your second term classes, reaching a 2.25 grade point for the term and maintaining acceptable discipline standards.
