Announcements for 1-06-10

  • Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Bowling Team who have set another school record last night against Pleasant Valley and are still undefeated this season. Outstanding performers include Erin Abbas bowling 220 and 181, Theresa Diggs with a 213 and 181, Lisa Freeman with a 215 and Paige Gomez with a 199. Mark your calendars for January 19th when Central will be bowling Muscatine for the MAC Championship.

  • Congratulations to the Varsity Mens Bowling Team who also defeated Pleasant Valley last night. The top performers were Matt Schlueter shooting 205 and 223, and Philip Weiss with a 190 and 211. Next up is Bettendorf this next Monday at Miller Time Bowl. All are welcome to attend. Come watch some of the best bowling in the state.

  • Teachers: Just a friendly reminder. When sending students to the LMC, please make sure you provide them with a written pass. Also, before sending students to the LMC, verify that they are wearing their student ID appropriately, on lanyards around their necks. Thank you.

  • The Freshman/Sophomore Scholastic Bowl team is having a practice this Thursday, January 7th at 7:00 a.m. in room 501. All freshman and sophomore scholastic bowl players should attend. We will be discussing any upcoming tournament opportunities for our team, so please come.

  • Attention all B term Lifeguard students. See Mrs. Hansen in the gym to pick up your cards.

  • Mock Trial Team A, captained by Michael Goodyear and Matt Hamma, is meeting tonight right after school at 1:45 p.m for 30 minutes in the library. All team members need to be present, as we will be discussing the assignment of parts. The team will begin meeting at the Scott County Courthouse the following Wednesday. If you cannot make the meeting, see either one of your captains or Mrs. Heninger.

  • If you are interested in touring Wartburg College on February 5th, stop by and see Mrs. Heninger in room 501 for more information. If you received a permission slip for the trip, the slip needs to be signed and returned as soon as possible. The trip will be on a first come-first served basis so hurry and get your permissions slips back to room 501.

  • There will not be commons or open campus this week. It will take a week or two to compile, create lists of qualified individuals, and notified concerned parties. All students are to report to their third block classes on Wednesdays until further notice is given.

  • Parents of Publications will meet tonight at 7p.m. to prepare for the Brazilian arrival. Please remind your parents.

  • Attention all baseball players: winter workouts start this Sunday, January 10, at Sudlow Intermediate School. Workouts will go from 6-8 PM. All freshman and sophomore players should report at 6 PM. Varsity pitchers will workout at 6, varsity position players will workout at 7 PM. All players should bring their glove, a bat, and wear workout clothes. If you have any questions contact Coach Ryan at Sudlow.

  • Attention all STUCO members: we will meet Thursday morning at 7:15 in room 331. Please be prompt.

  • The Optimist Youth On Parade …… sponsored by the Quad Cities Morning Optimists Club, will present a variety show consisting of Quad City Youth this upcoming weekend. It will feature the Metro Youth Drill Team, the Pleasant Valley Sparkles Cheering Team, Morrow’s Academy of Martial Arts, and many more acts to include dancers and musicians. Student admission is free and a donation is asked of adults. Bring your little brothers and sisters! >>>>>>>>> When: January 9th (this Saturday) at 2:30 at the Pepsico Center, Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

  • This is a reminder that Environmental Club is meeting today after school to collect can and bottles. It has been a while since they have been collected, so we need everyone to come. New members are always welcome. Go Green and Recycle, Central!

  • There will be an emergency meeting of Blue Crew right after school today in room 251. Please try to stop by. The meeting should only last a few minutes.

  • HEY THERE MOCK TRIAL TEAM B MEMBERS (you know who you are) : Meeting TODAY right after school at LANE & WATERMAN law offices - 220 Main St. Just drive down the hill to the Wells Fargo building. If you can't find it, you're worse than Petra. We'll be assigning parts & outlining the case, so make sure you have it read it THOROUGHLY, as there will be a pop quiz! Just kidding. But seriously. Again, be at LANE & WATERMAN after school TODAY.

Our next meeting is Thursday, Jan 14 after school in the library. All are welcome to attend! Bring your photo release forms then, and be sure to check the newspaper in the next couple of days.   • There will be a drama club meeting next Tuesday the 12th right after to school to all members of the club. We will be handing out the t-shirts and discussing our next project. Attendance is very important. If you are in the club, you must attend this meeting!

  • Destination Imagination will be meeting Thursday afternoon after school in the usual spot. See you there.

  • Newspaper students: The lab will be open today (Wednesday) through the Parents of Publications Meeting tonight. This is the last day to qualify for check in points. Memory pieces are due. Assignments are on the door. Sign-up sheets for activities with Brazilians are posted.
