What is this thing called hawk-i?
hawk-i (healthy and well kids in Iowa) is part of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and is Iowa’s effort to make affordable health insurance coverage available to children in families with incomes too high to qualify for Medicaid, but too low to afford private family coverage. If a family’s income meets certain guidelines, and the family does not qualify for Medicaid, the uninsured children may be eligible for coverage under plans sponsored by Wellmark or UnitedHealthcare.
What if my child has health insurance, but needs dental insurance?
Iowa is the only state in the nation to offer hawk-i dental only coverage to children that may already have health insurance coverage. If a family’s income meets certain guidelines, the children may be eligible for hawk-i dental only coverage provided by Delta Dental.
Who does hawk-i cover?
hawk-i will provide coverage for children and teens under the age of 19. hawk-i does not provide coverage for adults.
