  • Maximum Utility Takes 5th in State

Central’s Macroeconomics team, mentored by AP Macroeconomics teacher Ms. Cari Johnson, took 5th place in the state of Iowa in the National Economics Challenge! The team, “Maximum Utility”, which consisted of Sam Saveraid (senior), Rafe Sullivan (senior), Anna Thompson (junior), and Sarah Van Liere (senior) would have gone to Des Moines in April and competed in person for the state title. Due to the pandemic, the in-person competition was canceled and rankings were taken from the initial round of competition only. We are very proud of their efforts. 5th place is the highest placement Cental’s team has received in 3 years of competing. Congratulations to the team on this monumental accomplishment!
