  • gofundme for Powerlifting Program

2016powerlifting6Central’s inaugural powerlifting  competition was an overwhelming success. We had over 50 lifters representing 8 schools and had adult, world-class lifters competing alongside our student athletes. We believe that to most effectively support our Iowa sanctioned team and individual sports, we need to have a very rigorous strength and conditioning program. As an extension of Hans Krueger and Charlie Driscol’s efforts, we are going further by holding competitions open to any high school athletes.

The next competition is on July 23rd in the very hot George Marshall Gymnasium. An estimated 100 competitors are expected to sign-up and compete. The Blue Devil program had to borrow equipment to hold our first meet. Our weight room is well suited for training our athletes, but specific equipment is needed to hold a competition without having to borrow from area programs. Borrowing equipment is a difficult process as thousands of pounds of weights and bars must be transported into George Marshall Gym to host the competition.

We want to continue holding competitions and need to be self-sufficient. We are raising money to get the equipment we need. We already received a $500 donation from Hilltop Grocery and Spirits to help us. In addition, Mr. Driscoll has started a gofundme page to raise money for the equipment. Please check it out and consider donating. Also, please spread the word throughout the Blue Devil Community as well. If you want to help but don’t want to use this site, you can also give your donation for the Powerlifting Club to the activities office. Thank you for helping in anyway that you can as we build our program to support our students.
